Price Check - before listing - Akadema 11.5 custom glove - almost new

Debating listing this glove here. Picked it up for a great price locally, but I don't love the web, and if its worth a decent amount I'd rather just sell it than have another 11.5" glove.

Its a customized glove. On the thumb its got players name, American flag, and an embroidered EB (i guess his school). I can send more pics if you are interested, or once I actually make a for sale post.

He sold me both of his gloves (this one new, the other one very used), and said he was retired from baseball (cut from team? I didn't want to ask)

Sorry if this is not a typical post, but I couldn't find a single Akadema glove here to reference for price. Their website lists the lowest custom glove for $325 fwiw.

Thanks in advance!

WTB - Beaters, used custom gloves, blemished gloves - RHT

Just testing out different styles and stuff. I'd like to buy some gloves with lower resale value.

Ideally - Maybe an ugly custom glove you don't want anymore. I don't care if its got your name, number, etc.

But I'm open to anything. It does NOT need to be super high quality, but it's gotta be at least decent quality.

lmk what you've got!

Thinking about getting a “flashy” glove - advice on bright colors

I’ve always owned “boring” colored gloves (dark/light brown, black, etc).

I’m on the fence about ordering this glove - I absolutely love the look of it, but I’m a little apprehensive about how I might feel about it when I actually play with it. I think it looks great in pictures, but might just feel too out of place when playing with it.

Theres a few different gloves I’m looking at, and also thinking about buying a custom, but this was the first glove I was thinking about: https://emerygloveco.com/collections/summit-series-copy/products/emery-summit-1417-infield-glove-sky-blue

Maybe it’s a little TOO much?

I will most likely create a custom glove and just tone it down a bit. Idk what do you all think?

Been away for a LONG time - advice need on Glove break-in/close style/two in pinky etc

Im just getting back into the game as my son is just starting baseball. I played my whole life , but after high school 20+ years ago - Ive just played a little mens league softball here and there. I recently picked up a glove, and before I break it in, I want to maybe see what I've been missing out on (two in pinky, closing thumb to pinky, etc).

I mainly pitched, but I also played 3B, OF, and caught. I wanna say my gloves were usually either 11.75 or 12 inches. I would always wear it traditionally (one finger in every stall) and have index finger out. I also closed it what I guess might be called traditional (Thumb usually closes the glove between ring and middle finger). I really like to cram my hand in there as deep as I can get it, so the glove feels like its an extension of my hand (and not my fingers).

I have no problems catching this way. I feel totally confident playing IF/OF with this style. I never worry about dropped balls, or whatever the criticism would be of breaking it in this way. I also feel like its very easy to transfer the ball, or flip it if needed, since its not super deep in there.

That being said, I'm always open to trying new things. To be honest, I had no idea about TIP back when I played. I had some friends who closed their glove thumb to pinky, and back then I really wasn't a fan of it.

My question would be: Should I try breaking it in and using it this new way? I grabbed 2 gloves used (but basically new) from someone. One is 11.75 (infield) and one is 12.5 (outfield). Obviously I think TIP and a deeper pocket will probably be better on the outfield glove - so maybe I'll try that first?

I've tried it with an old glove, and idk to me it just feels so unnatural, and harder to be agile with it closing thumb to pinky. Do you get used to it? Am I just too used to closing it thumb to middle/ring?

LMK what you think!

Does Garmin “smart wake” actually work for anyone?

I’ve tried it about a dozen times now, and no matter what it goes off at the time i set the alarm for (and never before).

I usual set my alarm for 630, and i usually end up waking up at like 615 or 620 on my own. I look at my watch, sometimes get up, have a glass of water and then at 630 it goes off.

I was hoping this would be a cool feature, since i render using an app called “sleep” on android and it would do the same thing. I though it worked great, so i was thinking garmins implementation on my wrist should be even better since a watch HAS to be better than just a microphone!!! Guess not.

Does this actually work for anyone?

WTB - USED/CHEAPER/BLEMISHED gloves - RHT (decent quality)

Getting back into the sport since my kid is getting older. I haven't bought a "real" glove since I played in HS back in the 2000s - just a few walmart specials for playing softball here and there.

Rather than just buy ONE glove, I think for now I'm better off buying used gloves in a few different styles to see what I like. If I start playing and coaching more then maybe I'll buy something new.

Im open to any style/brand, but for obvious budget reasons, I'm probably targeting gloves like: grace, buckler, 44pro, emery, yardley, marucci, etc.

If you've got a glove that you want to sell for cheap lmk! Im located in CT for shipping purposes.

Feature request - Active calories per hour, or 10 min, etc

So I do a lot of varying types of workouts. Some are intense, and some are just a walk, or some easy exercises.

What I usually track to compare workout intensity is ACTIVE CALORIES. I could go for a lazy walk for 2 hours, and burn like 200 calories basically walking 1 mph, but if my resting metabolic rate is 90 cal per hour, then all i really gained from that workout is 20 calories over what I would have burned if i were asleep.

PACE or SPEED is useful during a run, but what I think would be useful is seeing like Cal per hour, or active cal per hour or per 10 min or something, for non gps activities.

what do you think, good idea? Useful?

Anyone else here do the sock method?

Been doing the sock method for past few days, and it actually works pretty great.

Pod is on inside of my ankle right under bone. I wear Saucony no-show socks, so it seems pretty secure in there.

Eventually if im wearing pants and I can buy an ankle band I'll probably switch to that, but for now this is great!

The state of 3rd party bands

Just wondering if anyones found any cheap aftermarket bands yet. I know its a matter of time until we can get a 5 pack off amazon for like 10-15 bucks, but i have yet to even find ANY 3rd party out there.

New glove buyer here (its been like 20+ years), getting bombarded with new brand ads - which are any good?

Not exactly in a rush, so just been waiting on a sale on a rawlings/Wilson/Nokona glove. In the meantime, Ive been getting a ton of ads on gloves that actually look pretty sweet, and prices seem decent.

Off the top of my head, these brands I keep seeing being pushed hard are:

  • Emery
  • 44pro
  • gloveworks
  • Grace
  • a few others I cant remember

Any of these any good? Im hoping there might be a brand out there thats maybe a bit smaller with less name recognition that is making gloves on par with the bigger manufacturers for a fraction of the price.

Conversely, are there any that should be avoided at all costs?

Thanks!

Been totally away from the game for 20 years. Need to buy a glove for Dad stuff - whats good?

Last glove I bought was back in HS - (was a 12.5 or 12.75" I think - A2000 - from the eastbay catalog! lol). I pitched and played centerfield. Was a really nice glove, but after I was done playing I gave it away.

I bought this rawlings player preferred a few months ago because it was on sale for $30: https://www.rawlings.com/product/P-P125BFL.html

My oldest is only 4, and this glove is probably fine - but just wondering if its worth it for me to pick up something better if I happen to find a good deal, or a used one in good condition.

Seems like theres a ton of different top-teir gloves now (at some crazy prices), so just wondering whats good and whats overpriced junk.

Thanks.
