I'm going to Boston Book Fest this coming Saturday. My highlight is Monsters in the Archives: My Year of Fear with Stephen King at 10:30 am, so I'll be there pretty early. Also thinking about going to the Gothic Horror one, the Neighbors one, and the Mattering and Belonging one, or a few others if timing allows. If you're going, let me know, and maybe we can grab lunch between sessions or even just say hi if we end up going to the same panels!

I'm a big horror fan, but I somehow find myself missing out on Halloween every year. What are some fun Halloween/horror/October sorts of stuff to do around here? I'm especially interested in classic horror movie screenings, but open to anything!

I have an Amana brand self cleaning filterless dishwasher. A few years ago, I ran into an issue where it started jetting hard bits of food etc. into all of my dishes. I even posted about it [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/Appliances/s/1YFGzIOoRF).

The solution was Affresh dishwasher cleaner tablets, which I used every time I started to see it performing poorly (roughly once per month). Well, cut to now, and the same issue is back, worse than ever, and multiple tablets in a row doesn’t clear it up.

Any suggestions for troubleshooting? For the record: nothing in there is too tall, I’m not heavily rinsing things before they go in, and I run hot water in the sink before starting the dishwasher cycle.

I joined a virtual writing group about a year ago, and it's been wonderful for keeping me accountable and for conversation (and light feedback/brainstorming/etc). Would love an in-person version. Is anyone around here in a writing group? Or interested in starting something like that?

I'm a full-time remote worker + freelancer, and I live in Weymouth. I'm looking for cafes that are good to work in (laptop but no video calls). My goal is to become a regular and potentially meet people, but also just to get out of the house more often and be among people, even if I'm not always actively chatting with them. With that in mind, I'm optimizing for space (I don't want to take up super scarce tables, ideally), and good vibes, but actual good coffee and food would be nice, too, of course. Any recommendations?

Faxon (in Quincy) used to be my local park, and I noticed they installed some pickleball courts. I didn't see fliers or any signage -- anyone know where I can find out more about open games, equipment rental, or anything like that?
