ECNL-RL players guesting in bronze division

a local medium-sized club sent 2 players from their ECNL-RL team to guest play in bronze today against our small grassroots club. They weren’t short, they had 6 players on the bench for 9v9. The RL team is one year up, an 11v11 team, but has several kids like this playing ‘up’. Turns out they do this often, based looking at past game rosters. Location: NorCal. I don’t know if complaining will do anything since that club director is also the regional chair for NorCal. This is mostly just a rant

Santa Cruz mayoral candidates need a ‘Mamdani moment’ on housing policies

I agree with this reasonable and data driven discussion about how the housing market works, and how both candidates don’t get it—especially Coonerty, which is ironic since many progressives are trying to paint him as a developer

Friday night pickup soccer?

Looking for a pickup soccer game to join this Friday 6/19, ideally somewhere near Bellevue, but could go further for a solid game. I know about Arena Sports drop-in, but only have cleats and assume they won’t allow them? Only in town for a bit, would love to get a game in. Thanks for any tips!

Guest Commentary | Greensite gets another nimby endorsement

This is a pro GG piece written by John Aird. He is the leader of CLUE, the group that sued UCSC to stop them from building more housing. This mayor’s race is a nimby love fest, and I’m bummed that out of five candidates running, it’s just different shades of nimbyism. Everyone o talk to IRL wants more housing, not less

Volts interview with Tom Steyer. Not an endorsement, IDK who to vote for yet. But at the end he says, he’s running against the “realtors who don’t want any more housing”. He was also just endorsed by Yimby Action. Posting bc on this sub (and IRL), people frequently conflate developers with realtors/landlords. This juxtaposition of anti-realtor & pro yimby seemed like a good illustration of a basic concept:
Developers want MORE housing
Realtors wants LESS housing
