I was trying out a new creek today and immediately after I got in I realized that there was an old bottle dump eroding into the water, so plans changed drastically. I gathered as much as I could carry and still managed to find a few worked pieces. I’ll have to go back sometime and not get distracted lol.

Found a bottle dump eroding into a creek

(Pic of what it looked like at the very end)

There were hundred upon hundreds of bottles all sticking out of the side of this cliff, lots of complete ones many were warped from fire and even more were sadly broken. The creek was full of broken glass shards. I gathered up as many cool ones as I could carry but there was a lifetime of stuff there. The glass pestle might be my favorite of the lot. Most of the bottles are dated to 1900-1950. Insane haul. If anyone is interested in more specific pictures I can get them for you.

Am I crazy for thinking this one could’ve been a hafted axe?

I picked this one up today just thinking it was a normal preform but as I looked at it longer it seems as if it has a smoothed down area in the center where theoretically it would’ve been hafted. It’s hard to capture on camera but I tried to show it the best I can.

Today’s finds

Have what I believe to be a broken adze and a broken contracting stem point. The adze is a real heartbreaker because the material is just gorgeous.

ABSOLUTE SMOKER NEBO HILL 🔥

I still don’t even know what to say, I wasn’t even going to go to the creek today because it’s unbearably hot out. But I had some time on my hands so I figured I’d just pop into this new creek and take a look around. I was only in there for a few minutes and I saw this staring back at me. Best personal find so far by a long shot.

Blood red heartbreaker

This is probably my favorite material of all time. it doesn’t look like the regular heat treated chert around here, Seems more like jasper or agate with the bands going through it.

Had a damn good day today

(Mid missouri) The middle one is an absolute heartbreaker, seems to be made of red jasper rather than the heat treated Burlington that’s common around here. Almost looks like it was reworked into a blunt of some kind.

I know it’s hard to ID without a base but anyone willing to give it a shot?

Found today in central Missouri. It’s very very thin.

I think I’ve got them zeroed in 🎯

There are flakes aaaaaalllllll along this trail and now apparently points popping up out of the ground…. I need to try to get permission to dig ASAP…

Oops! All preforms

Got rained on all morning and didn’t find much until I found all of these basically on the same gravel bar. The black one almost reminds me of a cobbs knife. Hard for the pics to do it justice but the orange one is just beautifully perfect, it would’ve made a killer point.

Ancient Native American dragon petroglyph

My pap pap said they used to ride them around all the time till the white man hunted them to extinction to make purses out of the hide

Is this just a retouched flake?

This one’s kinda stumped me. It has a flat base and the edge is broken off on one of the sides. Found in Missouri.

Found this sweet blue bromo seltzer bottle in the creek while looking for arrowheads

Some cursory research says it’s likely from 1910-1925. I think it’ll make a great vase for some little wild flowers.

Extremely large Biface

This is the largest one I’ve ever found, it’s probably about a foot in length. Do you guys think this is a finished tool or just a quarry blank?

Is this legit?

Was at an antique store in KC over the weekend and spotted the most monstrous grooved axe head I’ve ever seen in one of their cases. It was easily bigger than my head and probably weighed upwards of 30 lbs. I know sometimes they made crazy stuff for ceremonial purposes or to show off, could this be legit?

Just laying right there for me to find

It’s so nice to find an intact one after lots and lots of brokes. Anyone have a guess at an ID? I’m having trouble narrowing it down. Found in central Missouri.
