make lists not connect

I'm working on a larger document that will mainly consist of a very long table.

I use several kinds of bullet lists meaning different things.

I'm wondering how I can disconnect two lists with the same symbol from one another.

To specify, in the first row, you can see the second "level" using fat arrows. (If it's relevant: This is, by full intention, not actually formatted as a second level of the list, it's a seperate list manually with a manually adjusted indent.)

If you take a look at the third row, you can see I used the fat arrow again, this time with red text. I would like this arrow to be red, too.

But if I change its color, it automatically changes the colour of the arrows in the first row as well.

I know it is possible to colour them seperately - a few rows above (on a different page, if that matters), I managed to get it work, but unfortunately, I have no idea how.

why is the perfect green circuit ratio 3:2?

edit: solved within seconds, thank you so much. Gonna leave the post online just in case some fiture someone else makes the same mistake as me haha

solution: each copper cable cycle produces 2 copper cables, so the perfect ratio would be 1.5:1, which is impossible, so we use 3:2.

TL:Dr: title.

Maybe I've just gotten horrible at math, but please someone explain it to me, where's my error? Compared to most, I'm relatively new to the game (~150 hours I believe), so bear with me.

I'm talking about a setup without modules (early game) in the base game (haven't got Space Age yet), using fast inserters and assembling machines 1.

A copper cable's production time is 0,5 seconds. Assembling machines 1's speed is 0,5 (=50%).

So, as long as the machine always gets enough copper, we get 1 copper cable per second per machine.

A green circuit's production time is also 0,5 seconds. For the assembling machine, it's the same as with copper cables. So we also get 1 green circuit per second per machine, assuming perfect saturation.

Every green circuit needs 3 copper cables. So, one green circuit machine needs 3 copper cable machines, doesn't it?

3 copper cable machines produce 3 copper cables per second. But two green circuits machines need 6 copper cables a second. That's obviously not enough.

So why is it that, wherever I look it up (or even try it), it says 3:2?

Is it because of the inserters? A fast inserter rotates 864° per second. That's 2,4 times back & forth. So it can actually only deliver two items a second (or, to be precise, it can deliver 12 items in 5 seconds). But that isn't fixed by taking away an assembling machine. To fix this, you would have to add a second inserter for each green circuit machine, wouldn't you?

I just don't get it.

How do I stop taking it personally?

TLDR: Rationally, I know I'm not responsible for when my depressed boyfriend has a bad day. But how do I stop feeling like it is?

---

My boyfriend is heavily depressed. We've been together for a year and a half now, both of us early 20s.

By heavily, I mean... he would much rather be dead. He has attempted before, although that was before I know him. But he has stood before me and expressed immediate intent before. Of course, it always depends on the day, but you get the point. I'm sure many of you know what I'm talking about.

Also, this is not my first time dealing with a depressed loved one. Although I wasn't nearly as close to everything, my best friend of many years suffers from depression as well. So believe me, I know.

I know I can not and do not have to save him. I know I am not responsible for his mental state.

But just because I know that, that doesn't mean it doesn't feel bad.

When he suddenly gets up, announces he will go to sleep and is very determined and rushed. When he's careless because it's bad and the doors are loud. When he doesn't imply any sort of affection - no kiss, no smile, nothing.

And I know. I'm not entitled to his affection. I also know, rationally, that it's not about me. If it was, he would very much tell me (speaking from experience). He's sick and these are symptoms.

But I feel bad nonetheless. I freeze, quiet and soften my voice answering his questions. I still want to ask "what did I do", I still want to say "i'm sorry", i still want to undo something i never even did in a desperate attempt to make anything better.

And I don't say these things, I don't ask for attention or affection in moments like these because, rationally, I know it isn't about me. Articulating any of that would merely send both of us into a spiral of guilt - he would feel bad for making me feel like this, I would feel bad for that, etc. Neither of us need this.

It would benefit my own mental health a lot if I could actually internalize it. I don't need to and don't want to feel bad whenever he does. But I have no idea how to do that.

Of course, it would help him, too. It must be additionally exhausting if your partner worsens situations like that.

I just want to know how to actually feel like what I already know.

Also: no, he's not in therapy. Yes, I know he needs that. Yes, you're right, he can't survive this in the long term. He knows that as well to some extent, but he's not quite there yet. I can't and don't want to force him. He has to come to that realization himself.

table formatting issue: column width

EDIT: I got a reply on r/MicrosoftWord that solved the issue. If you are here facing the same, this was the fix:

>problem: table is set to ‘resize to fit contents’.
fix:
select whole table -> right click -> "table properties" -> "options" (bottom right of the new form that has opened up) -> unselect "resize fit to contents"

(link to the post on r/MicrosoftWord )

---

I realize there is probably a solution/explanation to this somewhere on the internet but I'm in the middle of exam season and I just don't have the time. But maybe, some of you might know what's the issue here.

The issue at hand:
A 3x3 table with nothing fancy - no connected or divided cells, no differentiating borders or anything.
It looks pretty much like this:

word word long text
word word long text
word word long text

By "word", I mean literally one or two words, while "long text" is several lines.

I want to make the first and second column as narrow as sensible to minimise used up space. Automatic hyphenation is enabled.

This is what I want:

(please don't mind everything being German)

If I attempt to do this, there are two possible outcomes.

  1. it works perfectly fine. The word is automatically hyphenated and I can narrow the column as much as I want to - unfortunately, this isn't the case very often
  2. the first column only narrows as far as the un-hyphenated word goes. If I go any further, the second column widens and the third column narrows. It seems like the automatic hyphenation doesn't work. I have also taken a screenrecording (via imgur), maybe you wanna take a look. (please don't mind everything being German)

this is a screenshot in the middle of attempting to narrow the column - you can see where I wanted the first column to end and how wide the second column got

But it's not plausible that the automatic hyphenation doesn't work in general - if I type literally anywhere, it works perfectly fine. This is really the only exception.
I can't figure out what's the defining difference on wheter 1) or 2) happens. I can't figure out what's causing this.
And to be honest, it's just really annoying to manually have to type/delete hyphens every time I want to make the slightest change in the column width. Of course, it works and that's what I've been doing but I would love to have a proper fix.

Thanks in advance!

sidenote: I also posted this in r/MicrosoftWord & originally wanted to crosspost here, but that's not possible because of the embedded video.

Regarding the screenrecording:

  • the lines don't actually disappear, it just looks like that on video
  • it snaps back because I undid it with ctr + z
  • please don't mind everything being German

But it's not plausible that the automatic hyphenation doesn't work in general - if I type literally anywhere, it works perfectly fine. This is really the only exception.
