Speakers for AT-LP3XBT

Hi all.

Me and my wife have recently moved into a new home and our friends gifted us an AT-LP3XBT. We’re total vinyl newbies but love music and always wanted to have a "music corner" with vinyl.

Looking for active speakers with RCA for the turntable + Bluetooth for Spotify.

Room is ~30m and we mostly listen to DnB and rock, so decent bass would be great.

Location: Ireland

I'm OK with buying both new and used, but Ireland is quite small market, so the is lack of used options.

Budget: being a newbie I would aim for 200-600eur window (though would consider raising the cap if it makes sense). For now I would not like to go over 1000eur in any case as I'm not planning to use it too frequently.

Have been listening to music through earphones for my whole life so this is completely new territory. Would appreciate some advice.

SCSB and occupational pension

Could someone help me understand how it works.

I see that pension lump sum should be deducted from the SCSB, though I can't understand what exactly is to be deducted.

My employer has a pension scheme under which both of us contribute 7% of my salary. The full pot as of now is around 35k. There are no specific rules for lumpsums in the contract, so it's just standard.

If I'm made redundant and receive SCSB of approx 16k, what will happen?

  1. standard rules as by Revenue are that I can take up to 25% as lumpsum on retirement. Am I right to understand that I will need to deduct 35k*25% from the SCSB? Or should I recalculate the pot somehow to exclude the amounts I contributed? Or should I calculate the potential pot size on retirement?

  2. if I put certain amounts as additional contributions from myself into the same occupational pension pot, will it increase the SCSB deduction? For example if I put 5k will I deduct 40*25%?

  3. if I put those 5k into separate PRSA will it affect the SCSB? (if not, what could be the point of not putting it separately then)

I understand the is also an option to give up the lump sum in the future, but I'm quite young so I believe the pot should become bigger on retirement, so I see no benefits of such a decision.

What's the reasoning behind these rules? I mean pension and redundancy seems to be completely different processes, why would they affect each other?

New Dreame L50s pro ultra suction power

Hi all

Have just bought l50s pro ultra for my new apartment. Was super excited to change my old roborock s50 for this seemed to be beast.

Yesterday I unpacked and turned it on in the living room and... It failed everything.

Every piece of dust is exactly at the same place. I even turned up suction power to premaximum level and it was the same.

It looks like I either forgot to do something before use or it's faulty or something else.

Checked the manual and it seems I did everything right.

Anytime with the same experience? Is it just faulty or should I change some settings?

Just strange to see 30k pa robot doing much worse than 2k pa oldie.

Edit: just to add. We have vinyl (SPC) flooring so it should be super easy for him.

What is actually included in "floor fitting" price?

I'm planning to install SPC flooring in my new-build apartment (around 80 sqm) and was originally considering Des Kelly, but after seeing mixed reviews about their fitting service I thought I'd ask here first.

Since it's my first time, sorry for the silly question, but I'm trying to understand what is normally included in a flooring installation quote. In my case, the job would likely involve removing and reinstalling skirting boards, caulking and touching up any damage afterwards, undercutting several door frames, reinstalling a few floor-level window boards and trimming kitchen plinths.

Would these typically be included in the fitting price, or are they usually charged as extras?

Also, what would you consider a reasonable labour-only price for a job like this in Ireland? Not looking for the cheapest option, just trying to understand the going rate.

Tried searching here, but in most cases people give the price for materials+fitting. I'm interested in labour only and the understanding on what is included.

Thank you!

Sites for energy providers comparison for a new home?

Hi all

I'm moving in my new apartment soon and need to find the best provider.

What are the websites I can use?

The problem is I have no current provider (so can't use switcher or powertoswitch as they demand previous tariff and even if I use a random one they give me just one useless option) and no previous data (so no energypal for me).

The only one I managed to use was bonkers but the list there seems a bit off.

How can I find best option for the first provider?
