This ma girl

This is Harlee! Ma baby and walking buddy. She’s 9 and is the goodest girl ever! She’s sniffed out a turtle, a frog, and a snake for me and loves rolling on olives✨🌻🐶

Why does this “Lily” look like an artichoke

Heyo! Taking care of a neighbor’s garden while they’re on vacation. My neighbor told me this is a lily, but it doesn’t look like one. What kind of lily is this? I can’t find anything on Google that resembles this and I’m not familiar with the flower. My Apple photos keeps ID-ing the plant as an artichoke😭

Confirmation

I had suspicions for a handful of years, but only recently did I actually start searching. My sister disclosed a confession made to her by my mother, a story that I was never told; some kind of affair that happened right before I was born. Timelines of life long stories told to me weren’t adding up, so I and my brother bought a kit.

Results are in and we’re half siblings; 22% dna shared. I just bought another kit to compare my sister between us. Ancestry has linked my results to some 58 yr old chud in Florida, who’s been married for 32 years and manages hotels, and then some other half sister who has four children possibly that doesn’t have any connection to the guy.

We kids made jokes for years about how we don’t really share a resemblance to our father but it was obvious that we were the children of our parents. I just assumed I took after my mother. We have family photos all over the house, extended family, mixed family trees, hell - my dad’s even adopted and I’ve seen that side of the family via photos. But never in a million years would I have expected that the jokes we made had some truth.

With how messy my family is, idk when I should bring this up, or if I SHOULD bring it up to begin with. There’s a divorce in the works and I foresee a nasty battle over “who gets what”. And I worry for my own personal wellbeing if I did bring up a 26 yr old problem - hello, hi, me. I still live with my parents and share a car, so I might have to sit on this information for a few years. But the level of betrayal I feel is insane. It feels like (with all the shit and drama that’s happened) everything my parents built our family on was a lie. A 26yr old lie. Now I’m the joke.

Maybe I shoulda waited to post until I was in a better head space, but I needed a place to put this. Also maybe some advice on what to do next.

New Gecko!

Hello! First time posting here and looking for advice.

My sister is adopting a gecko from a neighbor today and she’s incredibly excited. It’s a yellow crested gecko with a 1000 yard stare, and will most likely be renamed to Megatron, haha. She’s cleaned off a space for his tank already, which is a small quiet corner in her room, and is looking up information online as we speak.

I’ve taken care of this gecko before when I house sat for them in the past, but other than turning the light on/ off, making more food paste, misting the tank, and checking the water bowl, I don’t know anything about these creatures. I’ve kept betta in the past and cared for hamsters and guinea pigs, but those aren’t exactly the same. I was hoping for any good advice (and niche advice) for new gecko owners from this group.

My sister’s own concerns is her gaming schedule and light levels in her room; will the screen of her computer bother him at night (since his tank will be facing the set up from across the room) and will her late night late afternoon sleep cycle mess up his natural day and night cycle with the lamp? Will cleaning with a vacuum stress him? Will candles over time hurt him? Will she need to cover his tank for privacy in case she has friends over? Will dust be a problem since his tank has a grate over top?

She’s definitely ready to become a gecko Mom.

An Offering

My first offering.

Sleep Token TPWBYT hoodie from Hot Topic. Oversized and super comfortable, but too plain for my taste. I wanted it to be unique. My first offering needed to feel special to me.

Some chalk guide lines to start, 5hrs of painting, 3 days for fabric paint to cure, then 3 washes later and it’s perfect. I’ve never painted on fabric or with fabric paint before, and translating the cover art for Hypnosis into jagged brush strokes was complicated (felt like stippling). Also the added pressure of painting on a 60$ dollar Christmas gift made me sweat. But for my first attempt, I did pretty good! Already gotten a few compliments and my boyfriend wants one for himself, haha.

Atlantic/ Hypnosis/ Mine segway does irreparable damage to my psyche every-time, and Hypnosis is in my top favorites overall. So I’m stoked creating something that shows off that love.

It’s also exciting to’ve watched everyone post their offerings, seeing how creative everyone can be, and now I’ve finally created something cool too. Yay, participation!

I hope everyone enjoys!
