Wisst ihr eigentlich, dass wir im Hulsbergviertel eine kleine besondere und unkonventionelle niedliche Lokation das Teo (Konzerte, Werder, Karaoke, Quizabende) haben, die unsere Solidarität braucht. Hope someone here can drop some tips and help me out. I’m looking for a guitarist for an international Modern Metal online project with melodic death metal and metalcore influences. For now, it’s all studio work. Where can I find someone? Aiming beyond Reddit too. We operate semi-professionally and are involved in other bands/projects as well. Our origin goes back to the pandemic. Back then I wanted musicians I could jam with despite quarantine rules, and I met some amazing players who helped me lay down some awesome tracks. One of them became a steady collaborator over the last five years, we picked up a vocalist and a drummer, and things were moving nicely. Then our guitarist left about three months ago. Yeah, not great timing...

Does anyone know a good platform outside of Reddit specifically for musicians—also at a professional level—to connect not just locally but nationally or internationally?

Here in Germany, BackstagePro is a solid option for bands. It’s geared toward musicians and event organizers and even helps with booking gigs. There’s also Bandmix, but it requires a paid membership.

Where do you usually look when searching beyond your local scene—for example in North/South America, Australia, or Asia?

I’m running Bitwig 6.0 (not Flatpak) on Fedora 43 and using Windows VSTs through yabridge 5.1.1 / Wine 9.21. For separate Wine prefixes, I’m using Bottles (as a Flatpak).

Now I’m running into an issue registering the ThallAmp VST from Odeholm Audio. The demo version works fine, as do all my other VSTs, but when I try to register it, I keep getting error 58. From what I can tell, this sounds like a licensing/activation issue, but I’m not using the VST on any other machine.

Has anyone run into error 58 with ThallAmp (or similar Odeholm plugins) under Linux/yabridge/Bottles, or has an idea what might be causing this?
