Tips on finding a good brutal tone?
I’ve been messing around on Amplitube 5 recently, trying to find a tone that sounds something like Defeated Sanity/Stabbing. For people who primarily use VSTs and amp sims, what did you do to get a similar tone?
Help!!
I saw this guitar on eBay. I know it's a replica, but has anyone bought guitars there, and what's the quality like?
String skipping + tapping = modern metal ?
If someone wants to learn this lick I can upload a breakdown. Also guys, my fucking neck is killing me
Jackson Soloist Pickups Upgrade
This was my first big guitar. I remember when I bought it 12 years ago at a really low price. The prices were not as high as they are now. The quality is outstanding.
But... I really don't like the pickups. I play a lot of rock and metal, but it seems really weak to me, and especially the two single coils are so different from the JB. Is it just me? What do you think I could put in?
I take this opportunity to also ask for the year of production of this guitar, I am very curious. I didn't understand how to get back up from the code. U00787
Fun alternate picking exercise that Ill maybe turn into a song

NGD - Woodland Camo EC-1000
I somehow never saw these when they were released back in 2023 but after seeing one online a month or so ago I couldn’t stop thinking about it so I had to make the move on this clean example I found on reverb.
How do I get crowbars sonic excess in its purest form guitar tone?
I have a Randall RH150
With a cheaper Marshall 4x12 Cab and a Randall 4x12
And I boost it with a TC electronic Spark overdrive to get a sludge / stoner tones already

And what can I do to get similar to his tone. Eq wize ect.
need some advice on this trade
ive been wanting a warlock or stealth for a long time and found someone for a trade. first pic is mine (what im trading) and the bc rich is what id be trading my jackson for. my jackson is just a simple jinky model almost perfectly setup though plays great. this bc rich warlock however has a couple issues: i had to raise the bridge to stop any buzzing on the 2nd,3rd fret when your fretting the first ( now the bridge is crazy high )/ the bridge pickup is toast (doesnt even work) / truss rods needs needs some sort or tightening. beside thats the bc rich plays pretty good. where im at now is i have a couple days to decide and need advice, should i do the trade and maybe put $200 in on a professional setup and new bridge pickup or not trade and just save up a little more and buy one myself. dont know anything about bc rich bronze series but the neck slant scares the shit out of me lol. thanks
What pick do you like the most?
Mine is probably the green tortex 0.8mm!
For soloing I really like the Jazz 3.
How far are you supposed to push yourself when trying to build stamina?
I think I *might* be overdoing it, as I'm feeling a slight twinge of pain in my lower forearm (just where it meets my wrist) whenever I move it too quickly. I think this was probably caused by my current approach to building downpicking stamina, which consists of picking a tempo that I think I can handle and then playing a riff that uses a lot of downpicking at that speed for 4 minutes. If I start to feel my wrist ache, I push through until that 4 minutes is up, no matter what. No matter how much I have to tense up. As long as I get through that 4 minutes with it sounding coherent I count it as a win. Now that my wrist/forearm is hurting, I'm starting to think I may need to alter my approach. However, doing it any other way seems counterproductive to me because if I'm not pushing myself to near-failure, then I'm not pushing myself hard enough to improve, right?
How would you recomment I approach this? How did you do it?
Is starting on ESP LTD 200 actually a BAD idea? Practical vs dream guitar
Hi guys, after 15 years as a metal listener (and some experience with growls & screams), I'm finally thinking about learning guitar.
I actually wanted to start about 15 years ago already, but between money, school and lack of time, it just never happened. Before anyone says it: I know I'm basically too old to start guitar now 😂😎
Right now I'm debating between:
- Ibanez Gio (hardtail)
- Jackson JS32T Rhoads (hardtail)
- … ESP LTD Alexi-200 🤡
I know the obvious answer is probably “get the cheaper beginner guitar”, and rationally I understand that. But Children of Bodom was the band that made me fall in love with melodic death metal and Alexi was a huge inspiration for me musically.
While I know a Floyd Rose is probably not the most beginner-friendly thing (well, not friendly at all as I heard), I'm pretty hands-on and the idea of swearing at string changes the first 10 times doesn't really scare me that much.
So I'm wondering if am I being too emotional here, or is there any real downside to getting the Alexi-200 besides:
- Floyd Rose complexity
- higher price
For context: I'd like to mainly play melodic death, thrash and folk metal, and I’ll start with a home setup (Scarlett 2i2 + MacBook + plugins)
Curious to hear your opinions, especially from people who started on a Floyd or on a guitar they emotionally connected with.
Feel free to destroy my reasoning, but try not to roast me too hard 😂🖤
Honest feedback please even if its brutal. Its my first recording.
Recent pics of my guitars
The MLs (first three) are my mains but I appreciate the Modifiers (last two) as they're kinda rare to come by.
Which ESP should I get?
Hi everyone!
I'm about to buy my second ESP guitar, my absolute favorite brand. I found these two models, a 2025 ESP EII Eclipse White Satin and a 2025 ESP EII M1 White Satin. I found the Eclipse in a physical store for €1,500. The dealer claims it's a former demo, so the price seems a bit low to me. (In Europe, a new Eclipse costs around €2,799-2,999.) The M1, on the other hand, is rarely used, also from 2025, but from the photo it appears to have a finish and sanding issue with the pickup housing (see last photo). The seller is asking €1,550. Which of the two do you think is a good deal? Thank you so much I’m advance!
Boxer tele for pickup swap?
I’m looking at one of these on Facebook marketplace for a really good deal. I like that it’s a tele and has jumbo frets, 12 inch radius, and the Japanese quality control. I want to turn it into a low-tuned metal guitar with a hot passive pickup in the bridge, something like a Bareknuckle or a Lundgren. My only question is, how is that going to work with this TBX tone control? The tone part of the sweep is only a 250k pot, so that sounds pretty unusable for metal, but the upper part sounds like it could be almost an onboard boost type effect? Anyone ever try this?
