Bongga Ka Day: Production Not Living Up to Ticket Prices
Yup not worth it. ANG MAHAL NG TICKETS MHIE AND GANUN LANG?
- Problematic Plot and Sub-Plot Development: The play wanted to storytell SO MUCH. Had a lot of story devices and for what? Should have concentrated on Coco Banana, or the Fashion House, or the Home, or the Love Story, or the love for fashion. And there was a random guy who supposedly suffered police brutality??? For what? Opened a lot of story points, which they either prematurely closed with FORCED insertion of songs or not closed at all.
2. No outstanding lead singer — in a freaking musical: Jeff Moses was okay, Atasha and KD were teen-love-team-ASAP-launch okay. But none of the leads carried the show. They were not bad, but they are not musical theater good. And for the lead actress not to LEAD the finale song (of both acts) is just devastating.
3. Overextended Production Numbers with Little Contrib to Plot: WHAT IS WITH THE SUCCESSIVE DANCE NUMBERS? Did not move plots. Did not add value.
The only silver lining of the production are:
- Nanay was sooo good.
- Jeff Moses — devastatingly handsome, on-key singing
- Set design was 💯💯💯
This theater company needs serious introspection. Their year-on-year record is so bad. Buruguduy remains to be the worst musical Ive ever seen. Bagets was a casting joke. Delia D was a glitterified meh of a show. GET BETTER WRITERS. STOP STUNT CASTING
