Parents of young kids: what do you actually want from everyday kidswear?
Hi Parents,
I'm researching a possible kidswear business, but this started from my own frustration as a parent. Kids' clothes seem to have such a short useful life - either they lose their softness/shape after a few washes, or the fabric feels synthetic, polyester-heavy and simply isn't breathable or comfortable enough for everyday wear.
I'm wondering if other parents face the same thing, particularly with clothes that are worn and washed constantly.
I'm exploring the idea of premium everyday basics and sleepwear for kids aged 2 - 8 years, using high-quality combed cotton and, where possible, certified organic/GOTS fabrics, with a strong focus on softness, breathability, durability and comfort.
But before doing anything, I want to understand whether this is actually a problem worth solving.
I'd love honest answers from parents:
What is your biggest frustration with your child's everyday clothes today?
How do clothes typically hold up after 10-20 washes? What usually goes wrong first?
Do you find polyester/synthetic fabrics uncomfortable or too warm for your child? How important is breathability when you buy clothes?
Do you actively look for cotton, organic cotton, GOTS, OEKO-TEX or similar certifications when buying kidswear?
Would better fabric quality, durability and comfort make you willing to pay a premium for everyday kidswear? What price point would you be willing to pay for a single high quality long life clothing item like a everyday t-shirt or a jogger?
Is there anything about existing kidswear brands that you wish someone would simply do much better?
I'm not selling anything - there's no brand yet. I'm genuinely trying to understand whether other parents experience the same frustrations I do and what they actually care about when buying clothes for their kids.
Parents, I'd really appreciate your unfiltered experience.
