First solo concert experience. Any advice?

Hello!

I saw LH this summer and knew I wanted to see them again. I haven’t been to many shows, but this was by far the one where I had the most fun. Sadly, since the dates they come the city closest to me are right during finals week, none of my friends can come with me, so I plan on going alone. It will also be my first experience travelling to another city alone.

I’ve only been to one big show that wasn’t a festival, and I was with a friend who’d already went to see one at the same spot a few months prior so I wasn’t stressed. However, this time I’ll be alone so I want to try to plan things as much as possible so I’m not stressed during the trip.

So, here are my questions:

1- Would I be better off buying a GA ticket, or a sitting ticket? I loved seeing them this summer partly because I got there early and was so close to them, so I would definitely want to be as close as possible. I’ve heard that LH fans are really cool people so I’m not really scared for my safety as a woman if I was in the GA surrounded by many people. What are some pros and cons for each option?

2- If I bought a GA ticket, do people tend to talk with the surrounding people while waiting for the show to start? Or do they mostly stick to themselves/to their group? Would it be unusual if I tried talking to my neighbours (I’m a bit autistic if you couldn’t guess already so I’m kinda bad at small talk and that makes me self conscious)? Same question applies for the sitting down spots, I guess.

3- Again with the GA ticket, would I need to get there really early and wait in line to not be stuck standing at the back of the room during the show? If so, how early? 1 hour? 5 hours?

4- Does anyone have any general advice or words of wisdom for a first-time solo concert experience ?

Sorry if I seem stressed and if these questions are unanswerable. As I said, I’d rather have everything planned out beforehand, and I’d like to buy my ticket ASAP before they’re sold out. Thanks in advance! ^-^

EDIT: 5th question: I definitely want to buy merch if there is some available. If I buy a GA ticket, would I have to choose between getting a good standing spot and buying merch? Or is there normally still stuff available after the show?

Hopping on the music cup trend!

After having the life-changing experience of seeing them live, I’ve started going through their entire discography (in chronological order). I’m now at Long Lost, so I don’t know the songs from the last 2 albums as well as the others.
So, the first pic is with my favourites from their EPs and first 3 albums (and with Who Laughs Last, because I’ve listened to that one so many times) and second pic is with the most popular songs according to the site. It’s really fun but sometimes the choices are really hard xD

Least satanic songs/most acceptable songs to put on speaker at work?

I work as a pharmacy tech in a residential area and the clientele is like 90% retired folks. We don’t have a ceiling speaker over our work station and we really can’t hear anything that’s playing in the pharmacy, so we have a bluetooth speaker for the techs. I’m looking to create a playlist for when it’s my turn on the speaker, and obviously I’ve been wondering which Ghost songs could be acceptable to play. We don’t raise the volume too much, so as long as there’s not like a super loud “HAIL SATAN” in the chorus it should be fine (looking at you, Year Zero), but I still want to be careful. Some other people often play stuff like early 2010s hits, the lyrics of which can be very sexual, and nobody has ever said anything about these songs being inappropriate. I’m also looking for stuff that isn’t that “hard rock/metal”-y, like for example as much as I love Respite on the Spitalfields, I don’t want to subject my coworkers to this because it’s not really the kind of music they’d enjoy. And I’m looking for only a couple songs in a really long playlist, so I wouldn’t be blasting blasphemous music all day long. So, does anybody have any ideas that I could incorporate in my playlist?

So far, I’ve added La Mantra Mori. It seems like a safe choice.

My first time being genuinely scared by a man

I live on a really safe city. I used to work in the “worst” neighbourhood for about 2 years and would regularly walk alone to my bus stop at like 9:30 PM. Sure there were some homeless people and a few people on various substances who would scream in the streets, but I never got approached by anyone and thought that they would hurt me. But maybe the fact that I’m kinda ugly and dress kinda weird doesn’t attract men? Still, if I stayed in the busier streets of the neighbourhood (where there are many people because of the many bars and restaurants), I wouldn’t be scared.

Yesterday night, I was out with one of my female friends (we’re in our early 20s). As I said, I don’t get approached by people off the street, but she does. We were walking back to her car, that was parked at the edge of that neighbourhood, while talking. As we were walking on the sidewalk of a busier street (there were a few cars and buses still passing by. Not that many people walking because there are no restaurants/bars on that street), I noticed out of the corner of my eye that there was a man following me. He was way too close behind me to be just walking in the same direction, and he was a bit to the side (so I was between him and my friend). I turned to look at my friend and sure enough, there was another man mirroring the first one but on my friend’s side. I started panicking, thinking about what I could pull out of my bag to use to fight them back if necessary. Alas, I had taken out most of the stuff that I keep in there before leaving home, so I really didn’t have anything.

I started walking faster and made eye contact with a random man on the other side of the street, silently praying that he would intervene if the two creepy men started something. I was so stressed, they were literally doing some kind of pincer maneuver on us at freaking 1:30 AM. I really thought we were done for. And then I hear, coming from man #2 (the one close to my friend):
“Hi” [my friend doesn’t answer] “How are you?”
My friend: “……..good. you?” (in the most uninterested voice ever)

I saw that man #1 wasn’t as close to me as before. With the absurdity of the situation and the thought that we might actually be done for, I started laughing (not the best idea, I know. If they had a knife and they were angered by my laughter we could’ve been stabbed or something, because men are so emotional. There was a bus parked nearby so if things went wrong the driver and passengers might’ve intervened. That made me feel a bit safer). Then my friend started laughing. We just laughed at them. Man #2 said “…what?” sounding genuinely confused as to why we would laugh at him. Thankfully this seemed to work, and they started walking back towards where we came from. We laughed at them the whole time we were speedwalking to her car and I kept checking behind us to make sure they weren’t following.

I sure hope we humiliated them enough so that they will never think to do that kind of thing ever again to some poor woman. Thankfully it wasn’t just my friend or just me walking alone that night. Who knew if they would’ve started something if it had been just one of us, since the odds would’ve been more in their favour.

Seriously, why do (some) men think that doing a freaking pincer maneuver on two poor women at 1:30 AM will get them in their bed?? Don’t they see that this is just going to be seen as a life-threatening situation? Are they that stuck in their own world? Don’t they think a bit about how that is going to be perceived by a woman?

It’s the first time something like that has happened to me and I’m already tired. So tired. I can’t imagine what it’s like to live in a less safe city and have random creepy men follow you around at night. My heart breaks for all of the women who have to live through situations like this.

Meilleure tarte aux bleuets?

Salut! Merci d’avance!

(tagged NSFW just in case)

Hey y’all. I think I have a black hole for a buttcrack. As soon as I take a single step, it feels like all the fabric of my underwear is getting sucked up there and I constantly feel like I have to rearrange it to feel comfortable. I’m at my breaking point I think. I feel like I really have to try other kinds of underwear because this can’t keep going on, it’s so annoying. So, does anyone who has dealt with this before have any recommendations of brands/models to buy? I only own granny panties but it sure looks like they aren’t granny enough, because I don’t think any grannies would want to deal with that whole thing. I don’t care about looks, I just want to feel comfortable and not constantly feel something in my buttcrack ;-;
