Resale value

Hey guys, did anyone ever sell their car at a reasonable price? I understand that Chinese cars have lower resell value (not sure why in this day and age) but I don't understand if lower resell value is just an excuse for people to throw any random numbers.

Maybe opinions (of non dealers) could help me correct my perspective and maybe be useful to others who want to understand the resale value in the market. I have an MG RX8 Black Edition 2024 model with 53k and warranty still valid for the next 3 and a half years. Car had no accidents and always serviced at the agency. The black edition was being sold for 125k as brand new at the time.

In your opinion buying a less than 3 years old car, what percentage you'd pay out of the 125k? I'm getting basically 40% and up to 45% of that price. I understand again that cars will devalue by time and again that Chinese cars wouldn't retain it's value (still not sure why) but to get less than half of what you paid in less than 3 years is extremely absurd for me.

Have you guys managed to sell your cars? Do you mind sharing how much it was for and how much you managed to sell it for?

For sale: MG RX8 Black Edition 2024

This is honestly a sale I never planned to make.

I'm selling my 2024 MG RX8 Black Edition because of my job, not because there's anything wrong with the car. I work as cabin crew and often drive home after 10-16 hour shifts, almost entirely on the highway. I've reached a point where I really need a car with Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keep Assist to make those drives safer. If this car had those features, I wouldn't even be considering selling it.

Car Details:

2024 MG RX8 Black Edition

53,000 km

Major service (60k) just completed today (July 14th 2026)

No accidents

No mechanical or electrical issues whatsoever

The rear passenger door was professionally repainted due to a scratch (cosmetic only, no accident damage)

VIN: LSJW84W9XRG012014

Fuel Economy:

On my daily highway commute with the A/C on, I average around 9.5 km/L. Without using the A/C, I usually get 10-11 km/L, depending on traffic and driving style.

This has genuinely been one of the most reliable cars I've owned.

\- Comfortable 7-seat SUV with loads of space.

\- Panoramic sunroof.

\- Heated and ventilated front seats.

\- Leather interior with power-adjustable front seats.

\- Large, responsive infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

\- 360° camera and parking sensors that make parking effortless.

\- Excellent air conditioning.

\- 4WD with multiple terrain modes, Rear differential lock, hill descent control, and low-range gearing.

\- Surprisingly capable off-road, took it into the desert several times and was genuinely impressed by its torque and capability.

\- Huge boot space, especially with the third row folded.

\- 50% window tint already installed, which makes a huge difference in the UAE summer.

Why I'm Selling? I'm honestly not trying to make a profit. Selling for 75k.I still have around AED 50,000 remaining on the bank finance, and I need about AED 25,000 on top of that as a down payment for my next car. That's all I'm looking to recover.

If you're interested, you're more than welcome to come see the car, take it for a test drive, or ask me absolutely anything. I'd rather be completely transparent than oversell it.

I genuinely wish I could keep this car because it's been incredibly reliable, comfortable, and enjoyable to own. The only reason it's for sale is that my daily commute after long shifts has made modern driver assistance features a necessity rather than a luxury.

Seriously considering GAC GS8 Traveler

Hi guys, I'm really looking to change my car and have been checking this one lately. They have a current offer where you can get it for 110k but without any service contract. Wanted to ask if you own this car what are the known issues and also please share the prices for minor and major services as this will be my biggest deal breaker. I currently have an MG RX8 and the service is costly (800-1000 minor/1200-2000 major.
