New Void

The CDS sent us a surprise new family member through friends of friends. He is a rescue from Animal Services. Our Tuxie 6 yo girl is still working on accepting him. Her 19 yo housemate, my handsome gray and white Tuxie, passed away 8 months ago 🥺. We weren’t planning on adopting again because she was getting along well without a new friend. We’ve always had a boy and girl cat overlap. Since we didn’t go choose a buddy for her ourselves one was chosen for us. He’s a very sweet and super curious boy. He has let her come to him without any aggressiveness. She on the other hand has loudly stated that there is an interloper in the house. I hope the she goes to accept him.

Watercolor Art Reproduction

Watercolor artists: What paper do you use to reproduce your artwork for prints? Hahnemuhle is a favorite photo paper maker of mine and I also paint on their watercolor paper (and others), however I have no experience with their art reproduction paper. I am considering purchasing my own archival printer so that I can do my own reproductions. Is there an economical archival paper similar to Hahnemuhle?

I am an old school photographer who bridged into digital as everything transitioned from analog. I work in a color calibrated environment and can create my own ICC profiles. All I am missing is the printer to do in house reproductions of my own work (photos and paintings). The expendables that I will have are ink and paper. Since I won’t be using aftermarket pigment ink I am hoping to find a decent archival paper that still performs as a good trustworthy base for prints.

Caught the Golden Stag first thing this morning ✨

It was just sitting there no other bugs around . My Critterpedia still needs 5 more bugs. I did not expect it to be so easy.

Buyer didn't know to use a palette knife to separate watercolor block :(

I just got a notice of a Michael's online sale and was looking at 100% cotton Baohong paper - i noticed a poor review and was shocked that no one at Michael's told this person to use a palette knife to separate the sheet from the block. It really just blew my.mind.

Considering purchasing an Epson SureColor 600p with CiSS ink system it has an issue with VM

This is the description of the printer:

Epson SC P600 with CiSS type T760 (Ink Owl), Photo Pigment Inks (Photo Black or Matte Black interchangeable )

Working Condition / Printing / No Clog Nozzles, and with Wifi connection, with Disc printing template.

Print max size on sheet up to 13"x19"

Tested 100% Nozzels Check!
Only Vivid Magenta need inks / cleaning!

_____

In talking to the seller the V Magenta ink is out and they suspect that the damper inside the EPSON on magenta is what may have failed, that all nozzles work 100% except V Magenta but sometimes V Magenta does come out 100% too on nozzle check.

- - - - -

This reads to me like it is an intermittent problem and suggests the need for manual cleaning of the nozzle. However with the added layer of the CiSS ink system to consider I am wondering what to take into consideration first before buying something that will need repair to work. It's being sold at a low price. I also suspect the VM is out due to them trying to clear the print head.

My other question is does this model have a maintenance tank? I am trying to determine if it will be financially feasible to buy this as is and refurb it myself.

How do you determine that a damper is bad and where can you get the part?

Can anyone tell me about the quality of Ink Owl pigment inks for Epson?

All help is appreciated thank you!

I just received this, I ordered it used from Better World Books. It’s what I’ve needed to progress. Just get it.

I made a customized money card for a HS graduate going on to join a semi pro soccer team.

I researched all of the elements of the team they are joining, added in personal touches and put this together in 12 hours from start to finish. I used paper craft, inkjet print (team logo), glue, watercolor and liner pens.

Made a bookmark for my partner

This is my own art. It is a watercolor bookmark painting that depicts the ring gate with ships flying through it and Rocinante flying in the foreground in space.

Which quote should I put on the back?

  1. “Truth is truth. How you deal with it is up to you.” Camila Drummer

  2. As long as we’re living and breathing there is more we can do. We just have to be strong enough.” James Holden

I decided to swatch each level of watercolor paint that I have with a Princeton Neptune 12 quill brush and Canson XL cellulose paper. Next I’ll do painting.

I spent my day reconfiguring a pre-bought fascinator to match my dress. I painted the purple flowers with watercolors to match the color on my dress, made my own yellow flower stem from another larger stem. These pictures don’t do it full justice, I’ll take real photos of it soon. It was just nice to spend the day creating.
