Commuting Suggestions | New to Redmond

Hi community. I'll be an intern for three months. My residence is in the North Rose Hill region, pretty close to the Costco. Office location is in Microsoft campus. Im not the fittest guy, but very excited about biking in general. Planning on commuting on pedal-bike.

I have heard there are steep hills in that route. Is it the case? Is it doable on a pedal-bike? Is it safe? Is there paved way, for bike only? THanks.

Need Suggestions/Morale | I-140

New to this hunt. 2nd year PhD student in a R1 school (~top 10) My work is in Human-AI Interaction for Pro-social outcomes.

I have two paper out of my PhD so far. With multiple awards, including best paper at the top conference in my field.Prior publishing experience (5 paprers) in similar A/A* conferences, but the topics were slightly different than what I'm working on now. So, not sure if those can count toward my petition. Invited peer review activity: ~20 papers at top venues in my field. My citation is ~65 (excluding self citation, its 48). H-index 4. Total papers 7.

Masters from my home country and ~3.5 years teaching experience as well. Also, worked with a national AI lab (in an Asian country) for a short while. Have had national level recognition for my masters thesis in my home country, award from the head of state.

I checked my profile with Chen and another well-known firm. Both offered refund-on-reject. it's a fit for NIW, not EB-1A.

I have seen people with leaner profile getting approved. But sometimes, their research (nanotech, oncology) could be written to sound more scientific and here I work literally for pro-social impact of technology. Although, my work has had positive impact on vulnerable populations including children, people with trauma, PTSD.

I have a series of work lined up around this new direction I'm taking in my PhD.

My questions are:

  1. Under the current circumstances how feasible does it look to do PP and getting approved? The current timeline for regular processing looks unfeasible.

  2. Do I need to go with those support/recommendation letters?

  3. Reading the case outcomes these days, it seems very sporadic. And sometimes, I also feel I'm not sure if I want to do this, or if my current profile is worth enough. Is just 1/2 papers supporting my PE enough?

  4. One more thing, maybe I'm just making it up, is that the difficulty in travel after I file for I-140. Some say it's nothing, some suggest not traveling. What's the actual thing?

  5. Above all, besides doing research, what immediate thing I can do that will help/speed up my case preparing?

Sometimes I fear rejection for nothing. Sometimes think about the money, in case it's wasted. Would especially value hearing from folks who walked a similar path.
