Hey all, Help with PhD by publication (UK Based)

Hey all, I had a meeting with some potential PhD supervisors on friday who all told me that I had already too much work done in my field of research to justify me starting a PhD. I have therefore been considering a PhD by publications as I already have one Paper about to get published, writing a Lit Review, Working on a piece of researcher which I will be co-Author for, finishing an MRes which will hopefully lead to publication and am co-developing a tool with a University and documenting the process hoping to get that published too. All of these in the same field of education. Has anyone had the same happen to them? Any advice for a PhD by publication? I am sort of finding myself extremely lost, and very sad I was told I couldn't join a traditional PhD.
