PSA:

Let me make something perfectly clear:

Diabolists and Satanists can use Pentagrams Upright ⛀ or Inverted ⛧.

This isn't a novel idea either. Believe it or not, a large percentage of Satanists use upright Pentagrams!! Don't believe me? Take a look at the Baphomet statue on your altar. 😈

Gardnerian Wiccans use both Upright and Inverted Pentagrams. We can too. Don't limit yourself. πŸ”±

This is Satan's Sigil Actually

This Sigil comes from The Grimoirium Verum. In The Grimoirium Verum, the names Satan and Lucifer are used interchangeably, because the author of that Grimoire considered Satan and Lucifer the same entity.

If you consider Lucifer and Satan completely separate Entities, you probably shouldn't use this Sigil, as it specifically gets you in contact with a Lucifer Who is also Satan.

I hope this helps. 🐍

Satan or Lucifer??

In folklore, Lucifer and Satan are ofttimes the same. However... a lot of the things Luciferians associate just with Lucifer are actually Satan's activities. πŸ¦‰

Like Lucifer wasn't in the Garden of Eden at all. That was the Nachash/Satan. 🐍

So the idea that Lucifer is the Enlightener in that story only makes sense if you consider Lucifer and Satan connected. πŸ”₯

Technically, the Serpent/Nachash was neither Satan nor Lucifer in Judaism; he was a snake. But He became explicitly connected to Satan in the New Testament and has zero connections to Lucifer historically at all. πŸ”±

Oh, and I don't know who needs to hear this, but Satan has never been a title. It's always been a name. Ha-Shatan is a title. Remember that. Lucifer though... That's a title for Diana, for Venus, for an Ancient King, for Jesus Christ, and for The Devil Himself. πŸ–€

Luciferianism destroyed!! Lol just kidding... 😈

Inverted Cross

I'm tired of people pretending that the inverted cross only became associated with The Devil in modern times. Yes, I'm familiar with the Petrine cross and I know that it's a Catholic symbol.

But Protestants have been depicting The Devil and Diabolists alongside or wearing Catholic symbols in art for almost as long as Protestantism has existed. Satan selling Indulgences, Satan wearing the pope's hat, etc.

The cross being trampled in this 17th Century woodcut isn't just on the ground; it's also inverted. And Christians of this era also believed that Diabolists were reciting The "Lord"'s Prayer Backwards during Black Masses.

Inverting "god's" work has been associated with The Devil for more than 1800 years... because Christians historically believed Satan to be Simia Dei (or "god's" ape). They believed that The Devil couldn't do anything original, so He copied and mirrored/reversed all Spiritual things.

Now of course I think that The Devil is more than capable of original thought (in fact, He more or less invented the idea), but after centuries of Diabolists being associated with reciting prayers backwards, inverting sacraments, etc., there's a treasure trove of inspiration for spiritual practices, and I feel that many Theistic Satanists throw the baby out with the Bathwater. There's something powerfully marvelous about proving the propaganda true (as long as it doesn't hurt anyone ~ don't become cannibals).

Or as a friend said it... "Wait, did Christians/Witch-hunters write our manuals for us?!" Well, yes!! They wrote the Black Mass for certain, they organized our Gods into various Infernal Hierarchies, and they created a whole dictionary worth of Diabolical vocabulary for us.

And this was all a fantasy for Christians too. Even though they were expressing their fears about what Devil-Worshipers get up to at the Sabbat, they were expressing a deeply held desire to live vicariously through us. Or in the words of Black Philip, "...to live deliciously".

They wanted to live lives wild and unbridled; without shame, or bogged down by inhibitions and societal mores. Osculum Infame.

Anywho, that was quite a rant, but what I'm trying to say is: Diabolists and other Hellions can share symbols like the inverted cross with Catholics, and that's perfectly fine. Wiccans share the upright Pentagram with Catholics, and most people don't even bat an eye. Also, Traditional Wiccans share inverted Pentagrams with us, and... Wait. Why don't we also use upright Pentagrams? If Wiccans can have both...

Is this a psyop?? Because it feels like no one wants us to have nice things...

Please Review our Rules

There really are not that many rules.

I especially want fellow Redditors to pay attention to and follow rule number 1.

I find LITERAL fascists/NatSoc/Neo-not-sees extremely disturbing. And I'm not being euphemistic. I'm not a Liberal or a Democrat. When I say fascist Satanist, I mean the kind that worship H!tler more than Satan. I don't like them. I don't care if you're a Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, Green, Anarchist, etc... If you are a LITERAL Fascist and you post or comment here, you will be banned.

Our community is extremely diverse. We have members of various ethnicities, sexual orientations, etc. in this space. Bullying them, harassing them, threatening them with harm, etc. will not be tolerated.

Any posts or comments in support of Fascism will result in your immediate removal and being permanently banned. Political discussions of any kind in this subreddit will likewise not be tolerated, because we are all different from each other and I want to keep this community cohesive.

That said, LGBT identity is not political discussion. If The Devil helped you to accept your gender identity or your sexual orientation and that's part of what led you to Worship Him, then you are absolutely allowed and encouraged to say that! Happy Pride Month, btw.

Tldr: No Fascists.

Diabolist vs. Satanist??

I was recently accused of letting the Church of Satan win (ceding ground to them) by refusing to call myself a Satanist.

Let me be clear about something: I don't call myself a Diabolist because Church of Satan has a copyright on "Satanism". In fact, while I consider Atheistic Satanism and Theistic Satanism completely separate religions, I don't believe Church of Satan could have a copyright on "Satanism". You can call yourselves and each other whatever you like.

I call myself a Diabolist because I worship The Devil. I don't divide Him into Satan vs. Lucifer. I don't focus my Worship primarily on Satan or Lucifer; I Worship The Devil. I don't Worship myself, nor do I strive to become a living Goddess. Nor do I seek to become a Goddess in a future lifetime. The Devil is my God. Osculum Infame.

If you call yourself a Theistic Satanist, but you "work with" Satan rather than Worshiping Him, and you also feel bothered by the term "Devil-Worship" because that's not what you do, or you consider "Devil" to be a Xtian concept, how are we part of the same religion? We're not. And that's fine. Some Diabolists are Theistic Satanists and some Theistic Satanists are Diabolists. These paths overlap like a Venn Diagram. But I'm not in the middle of that Venn Diagram.

I believe in Hell. I'm not interested in the Qliphoth, Sitra Achra, or other "weird trees". HELL. H-e-πŸ’πŸ‘

I sold my Soul to The Devil when I was 11 years old. I didn't dedicate myself to Him. Also, my rite of initiation was a form of Baptism. I was Baptized in the Name of The Dragon, and of The Beast, and of The False Prophet. Chanting The "Lord"'s Prayer Backwards positively benefited my life. Black Masses have always been extremely meaningful to me.

For years I was told my childhood Spiritual experiences with The Devil were invalid, that my beliefs were wrong, that Satan doesn't want to be Worshiped, that The Devil and Hell are Xtian concepts, that I should become my own God, that I'm just a reverse Xtian (even though after reading this, you've barely scratched the surface of what I believe in), that I'm Right-hand Path, that I should be Wiccan or Atheist or a Demonolatress, etc.

For a few years I really cared about how Theistic Satanists perceive my Spiritual practice. I also cared about being accepted by Satanic society. I don't anymore. I Love and Worship The Devil with all my Heart. I tried other people's methods and ways, I tested out several religions. But this one which The Devil leads me on makes me happy in a way that nothing else ever could. I'm not my own God, but I am my own Prophet.

Just because The Devil teaches me things He doesn't teach you doesn't mean that what I'm experiencing isn't real or important. I've never been dismissive of my friends' Spiritual Paths, so I would prefer the dignity of not having mine dismissed or scoffed at either, but at the end of the day, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. Also, not all Diabolists sold their Souls; in fact, most don't. Some Diabolists want to be Gods someday; cool, I guess. Even within Diabolism, we're not all alike. But...

I'm not a Satanist. I'm just a Diabolist. Salve Princeps Tenebrarum. πŸ–€πŸ‘‘

Devils Around The World

I've had a few conversations with other people about this topic, and while I have my own opinions, I don't think there's a right or wrong answer...

And more than anything, I just want to gauge individual Diabolists' views...

Do you consider The Devil to be the same Entity as other Gods, Demons, etc. across different Religions and Cultures??

If so, which Entities??

I know this topic can get argumentative, so please be kind to others, especially if you disagree.

Remember: Personal Gnosis is personal, but I still want to hear about yours...

Sigil Jar

I keep my favorite Sigils in here. If I have need of another Sigil, I draw it in red ink on parchment paper.

In Solomonic Magick, it's recommended to keep Demonic Sigils in a brass jar to keep Them trapped and contained (like Genies in Lamps). But the thing is... You can't actually trap a Demon. Plus even if you could, Demons are worthy of Worship. So I keep Their Sigils in a brass (and Mother of Pearl) jar to honour them.

This jar specifically was made for resin incense, but I think it's far better suited to this purpose. 🏺

Beginner Book Recommendations for Diabolists (with honest caveats)

I put this list together because beginners keep asking me for book recommendations. I want to recommend my book, but it's not ready yet. These aren't perfect books, and I'm going to tell you what I like and don't like. That said, all of them have earned a place in my practice in some way. This list will continue to be updated and edited as I read new things and reread old things.

  1. The Book of Infernal Prayer, by Magister Cankerworm: Honestly, this one sits on my altar. That's how highly I think of it. The prayers are genuinely devotional, the theology is solid for a Diabolist framework, and it's one of the most practically useful books on this list. My only real objection is in the preface, where the author makes a sweeping claim that Diabolists as a rule reject Egalitarianism and Altruism. I disagree with this pretty strongly. There has been no Diabolist census survey. Everyone's practice is different, and that kind of generalization flattens a community that is actually quite diverse in values. Don't let it put you off the rest of the book, because the rest of the book is wonderful.
  2. Satanism: A Beginner's Guide to the Religious Worship of Satan and Demons, by Brother Nero: I include this one because Brother Nero is a significant voice in the Diabolist community and his YouTube channel is genuinely worth your time. It's hard to write a review on this book because the author is all over the place and I read this 6 years ago (currently rereading). I also think it's worth noting that when he wrote this book, he called it Satanism because he didn't have the word Diabolism yet, but he was definitely a Diabolist back then. This book made him a pariah in Theistic Satanist community, which is a whole conversation in itself. I have real disagreements with a lot of the content of this text. His views on abortion and mixed-faith marriages in this book are (in my opinion) completely insane, and I don't endorse them. He also discusses a variety of animal sacrifice that I really dislike. My personal position is that animal sacrifice is only acceptable if the animal is treated humanely and the sacrifice is eaten afterward. I'm also a vegetarian, so I'm clearly not the audience for that section regardless. Honestly, if my only impression of him was via this book, I probably wouldn't like him, but Brother Nero's organization today seems like a force for good in this world. I don't think he has all of these same theological beliefs anymore because his podcast contradicts some of it. Keep in mind, he wrote this more than 16 years ago.
  3. The Psalter of Cain / Psalterium Caini: This one was written for Traditional Witches rather than Diabolists specifically, but r/TradCraft and Diabolism have significant overlap and the Psalter has a lot to offer practitioners from either path. It's a beautiful text and I highly recommend it. It's out-of-print, but the Kindle version is still available.
  4. The Satanic Bible: 50th Anniversary ReVision, by Michael Aquino: If you have any fondness for Anton LaVey's original Satanic Bible, this edition is a genuine treat. Aquino's ReVision is thoughtful and it contains the Diabolicon, which I personally regard as a sacred channeled text and one of the most important pieces of Diabolist writing in existence. That alone makes this worth owning. One thing I don't like is that in the introduction, Aquino draws a comparison between Satan and Odin. I understand the impulse, but to me Satan is much more similar to Loki, and I think the Odin comparison misses something essential about His character. That's a personal theological read for me, but not a dealbreaker.
  5. INFERNAL UNION: Sinister Initiation and Satanic Psalms, by Michael W. Ford: This is a fun read and I've gotten real practical use out of it. The rosary prayers are lovely and I've incorporated a few of the rituals into my practice. Ford also talks about The Infernal Antitrinity (which I have a deep connection to) so that's nice. Full transparency: the author has some past associations I find troubling, and on a personal note, he owes me eighty dollars I will probably never see again. Make of that what you will... I'm recommending the book on its own merits because I enjoyed it. If you like this one, I also recommend his Book of the Witch Moon.
  6. Diabolism and Diabolatry, byΒ Lucien Blackrain: A lot of Theistic Satanists think this book is our Bible for some strange reason, so if people accuse you of spitting on crucifixes in your spare time, or believing that the Antichrist will someday make Abrahamic religions illegal, or of being a "bug-chaser", or of purposely breaking all 10 of the 10 Commandments makes Satan happy, or of believing that Satan started every non-Abrahamic religion solely to lead people away from the Xtian "god", there's a good chance they've read this book. It's absolutely unhinged and insane, and I really don't recommend it to anyone. That said, Lucien did inspire me in one way: I like to take Psalms from The Bibble and tweak them slightly to praise The Devil. I also like to invert and twist traditional Christstain Prayers in the same ways. There are a few legitimate Diabolist practices mentioned in this book (that I'm aware of others having utilized) such as: Worshiping Satan during one half of the year and Lucifer during the other half, reciting The "Lord"'s Prayer backwards, and sneaking consecrated communion wafers out of Mass to desecrate them in rituals. These practices are not Universal, but they are old, and I know Diabolists who do/have done some or all of those things. So, 2 stars out of 5, Lucien Blackrain.

I'll do more right-ups soon, but other books (off the top of my head) that I have found useful in my practice in at least some small ways (these are not endorsements of the views or actions of the authors in any way): The Bibble, The Complete Book of Demonolatry, Daemonolatry Goetia, Daemonolatrie by Remy, Compendium Maleficarum, Witchcraft in The Middle Ages, Goetia Daemonium, Liber Falxifer II, The Book of Sitra Achra, Craft of The Untamed, Paradise Lost, Dante's Inferno, Black Book of Qayin, Grimoirium Verum, Aradia or The Gospel of the Witches, and Wizardology (yes, the children's book).

Feel free to recommend the Books that inspire you in your Worship of The Devil.

Regarding Animal Sacrifice

While I am not personally a fan of Animal Sacrifice as a vegetarian, some Diabolists/Diabolators practice it and so do practitioners of various Afro-Caribbean Diasporic Religions. And it is a legally protected religious right in my country.

I don't support ritual killing of non-food animals, or torture or inhumane killing of any animal. But if you are a hunter or if you sacrifice a food animal in a humane way, you eat it, and you use every part of its body, I have no quarrel with you; that's your spiritual practice. And I think it's less ethically questionable than eating factory-farmed meat.

It's also worth saying that many conversations which involve people expressing their disgust around animal sacrifice involve culturally insensitive remarks or racism. Please keep that in mind if you decide to engage in discussion around this topic, whether in our subreddit or any online community.

There are Theistic Satanists and Diabolists in whose Grimoires is recommended the sacrificing of small rodents; I am personally against that. However, some of these books have a lot of other helpful information. So if a book is recommended which involves animal sacrifice in any way, please state that if you recommend said book. Also, recommend alternatives such as other types of offerings, cracking an egg, etc.

Additionally, keep in mind, Everyone, that many of the Old Xtian Grimoires which discuss Summoning Demons recommend animal sacrifice, and these Grimoires are frequently read, adapted, and utilized by Diabolists. There are several Satanic Adaptations of the Lesser Key of Solomon as well as the Grimoirium Verum, so this is part of the broader context of our practice, and it deserves to be engaged with honestly rather than dismissed.

You don't ever have to sacrifice an animal to be a Diabolist/Diabolator/Devil-Worshiper, but if you ever decide to get involved in a Diabolist coven or sect, and the idea of eating meat or any type of animal sacrifice bothers you, definitely ask the group if it's done before making any commitments.

Am I A Diabolator/Diabolist??

Do you literally Worship (with a capital "W") The literal DEVIL (in all CAPS)??

If your answer is "Well, um... Yes", Congratulations! Ding Ding Ding!! You're a Diabolist/Diabolator.

If your answer is "Well acktchooawly, I don't technically worship The Devil... I work with Him..." then you are NOT a Diabolator/Diabolist. Do you know why?

Diabolism AND Diabolatry LITERALLY both mean: "DEVIL-WORSHIP".

If you feel uncomfortable with the words "Devil" and "Worship", this space is NOT for you. That doesn't mean that I harbour any negative feelings for you; it just means:

IN OUR HOUSE, WE WORSHIP THE DEVIL.

That is all...

The Devil's Baptism

Welcome to all who have just found their way here!! For those of you new to Diabolism/Diabolatry/Devil-Worship and seeking a simple Self-Initiation, I want to offer you something practical right away.

This is the Baptismal Formula from my devotional manual (currently in progress). You may use it to baptize yourself, or to baptize another:

"I baptize thee/myself in the Name of The Dragon, and of The Beast, and of The False Prophet. Naamah!!"

The Dragon, The Beast, and The False Prophet are referred to in The Book of Revelations 16:13 as The Infernal Trinity. This Formula is a direct inversion of the Xtian Trinitarian Baptismal Formula. It's how I was Baptized as a Diabolist, and the effect it had on me has been immensely positive for my life.

If you have been waiting for a long time to follow The Devil, June 6th 2026 is 6/6/26. Tis a New Moon and a most Auspicious Occasion to get closer to Him.

Devil's Sabbat Ritual

This is the Ritual Script that my Diabolist group performed in observance of The Devil's Sabbat last week. It can absolutely be adapted for solitary practice! We do group rituals via Zoom, so excuse the "mute" and "unmute" instructions.

The parts labeled "Magister Cankerworm" come from his book: *The Book of Infernal Prayer*. I am not part of his organization nor is he in my group, but this edition explicitly gives permission for the reader to use any of his material as long as he is credited. I don't agree with all the opinions he expressed in this book, but I respect his work. It's available here:

https://circleofthefallen.org/library/resources/The%20Book%20of%20Infernal%20Prayer%20(Revised%20Edition)%20by%20Magister%20Cankerworm.pdf

The parts labeled "Dysnomia Ironwood" come from a book I wrote which will be available for the public to read soon. They have a copyright, but I give you permission to use them in rituals and for non-commercial use. You may use these in your personal practice, but just don't profit off of my work. Some of them are Psalms which I tweaked to praise The Devil instead of The Xtian "god". They are from the KJV Bible, which is public domain, however my Inversions are not public domain, so keep that in mind. The Eucharistic Prayer is an inversion of The LDS Sacrament Prayers (which are in the public domain).

For Beginner Diabolators/Diabolists/Devil-Worshipers, I highly recommend inverting Xtian prayers and rites to free your minds from Xtian programming. Unless you were raised in another religion, in which case I recommend blaspheming that one. Blasphemy Rites are not the be all or end all of Diabolatrous spiritual practice, but they are very helpful (especially for newbies).

My group wears costume masks at The Devil's Sabbat as it is a time-honoured tradition to protect the anonymity of everyone. I highly recommend this practice even if you're doing rituals alone. Masks change your consciousness profoundly.

Anywho, I hope that this inspires you to start observing The Devil's Sabbat. You can do what we did, or do it your own way. Ad Majorem Satanae Gloriam!! πŸ–€πŸ”±
