CS grad transitioning into PLC

Anyone have advice for a CS grad wanting to transition into a PLC programming career?

Can’t get a job in this industry and wondering if going back to school for PLC is a good idea or if learning on my own is enough to get a job and gain experience?

30 years old in Canada currently working in automobile production.

Looking for new TV to replace my 12 year old LG LCD-LED

Was looking at the Samsung 43" QN90D but they dont carry that anymore and I'm weary about the matte screen on the QN90F. I use it mostly for gaming and movies, and so I'd be worried about burn in on new LG OLEDs.

I wish I could just buy a dumb-tv with LCD-LED.

Also size I'm looking for is 42-43 inch

Any recommendations?

LED diffuser repair help

This is a 2014 LG led TV (42LB5550-UV). My air conditioner capacitor broke so my house was pretty hot for a couple days and when I went to turn on my TV today I immediately noticed these bright spots which appears to be the diffusers that fell off probably due to age plus the heat setting them over the edge.

Since it’s only 2 I’m wondering if I should attempt to glue or replace the LED strips? Also if replacing the strips would I need to actually open up the tv to see the LED strips model or is there a way I can figure that out from the model of the TV alone ?

Any help would be appreciated, this TV has been amazing for the last 12 years and really don’t want to let it go.

Help with Super Mario Sunburn on Mac

So I downloaded sunburn v2 and since I'm on mac I tried to use Multipatch to patch the xdelta file to my Super Mario Sunshine.iso. The patch seemed to have worked succesfully, and Sunburn does actually boot, but theres a couple things that seemed to have not worked properly.

In Dolphin Super Mario Sunburn.iso shows to be only 592MB compared to the 1.36GB size of the original Sunshine iso, even though in finder they seem to be the same size. Also when I look at the properties for the Sunburn iso, theres no banner info, so it just shows the blank image instead of the Super Mario Sunburn banner image.

Even though the game seems to boot properly, the lack of banner info and the smaller disc image size in Dolphin is giving me red flags. Does anyone have any idea what went wrong? Should I try to patch with xdelta3 instead of Multipatch?

Another degree vs experience/projects

Hey everyone,

I know the industry is tough right now but I’m just looking for some advice on how to move forward in pursuing a SWE related career.

Some background on me:

Got my Bachelors in Business Admin out of high-school at my local university, worked some office jobs but mostly worked as a server through my 20s because the money was good and never found a passion for business related jobs I was getting.

When I was 27 I decided to go back to school and was deciding between Comp Sci at my local uni or a 3 year advanced diploma Computer Programming program at college in my city.

After researching both programs (talking to students in both, professors etc) I decided to do the 3 year college program. From many people I spoke to the Comp Sci program at my uni was very dated and many graduated barely knowing how to code at all, whereas the 3 year program seemed the opposite. Also my personal experience from the business program at the same uni was pretty mediocre.

The major drawback was that I wouldn’t get a comp sci degree. I also found out that finishing the program at college would allow me to fast track a CS degree at my local uni if I wanted to pursue that in the future.

The program was amazing, 90% of the classes were coding based. From web, to android and iOS apps(Swift, Java), to Linux server automation with cron jobs and setting up docker containers, and even game dev (Unity). I worked my ass off and avoided using AI as much as possible so I could understand and retain what I was learning. I finished with a 3.99 GPA, and had some basic but full stack apps under my belt in android and iOS, websites, and even a shitty game I made.

I learned so much, but when I graduated and started handing out resumes (100s of them) I barely got any interest and not a single interview.

Since graduation I finished threejs journey because I had an interest in 3D web design, and have made some small projects with that even though it hasn’t helped.

Eventually I got a job at a factory doing production work, the money is good but I’m feeling hopeless. In my free time I’ve been learning Godot and building a game(current passion project) but I don’t want to give up on a career in SWE.

Time has flown by and it’s just over a year since I graduated, and I haven’t handed out a resume in months. I’m posting here because I’m looking for some advice on how to get back on track towards pursuing a career in software. I will still be working full time at the factory to pay the bills, but in my free time I’m wondering where I should devote my time in order to improve my chances of getting interviews?

Should I focus on building projects? If so what type of project is even desirable to recruiters?

Should I grind leetcode?

Should I go back to Uni to fast track CS degree? (Will probably still take 2+ years while working full time)

I’m sorry for the long post, but I’m trying to reignite my motivation to find a career I’m happy with and could really use some advice on how to properly allocate my free time. Thank you for any responses in advance.

TLDR: Went back to college to change career paths at almost 30, got no interviews, now stuck at factory job and looking for advice to move forward.

Looking for shoes similar to old Nike Freerun Flyknit

Looking for shoes similar to the old Nike Freerun Flyknit

Used to love these shoes around 10 years ago or maybe 2017-2018, but the new freeruns seem to be completely redesigned with big heel drop and lots of padding.

These used to be my go to for non-leg days and running at the gym, does anyone have any recommendations for something similar? Both the style and the fit were perfect for me as an all around gym shoe.
