Is there such a thing as driving lessons for getting back into driving?
Hello all. I've got epilepsy, and am coming up to my one year anniversary of being seizure-free (yippee), which means I'll be allowed to start driving again. I haven't been behind the wheel for about 4 years, and whilst I am VERY excited to have my freedom back, I'm also feeling a bit apprehensive about suddenly jumping back in the car without a bit of a recap.
Does anyone know if this is a service that driving schools tend to offer, or is this something I've entirely invented in my head that no one does?
A request: please stop using trans men as a argument for why the EHRC guidance won't work
hello, trans man here. I am 6 foot tall, I am bald with a beard. I am the one everyone uses in their arguments when they say, "but what about the big beefy trans men that will be walking into women's toilets?" I think I've seen about 20 comments saying the same thing on every single post about the EHRC guidance across social media.
you're absolutely right. it's a massive hole in the guidance that it's very clear no one saw. it's an argument that no one considered. but is that all we are to you?
I don't think I have ever seen trans men - especially older, passing trans men - spoken about more, than when people bring us up in comments for karma and likes. do you know any trans men? do you know what issues they face? do you advocate for them beyond sharing posts on instagram?
it is the blessing and the curse of being a trans man that we are often forgotten about. I've come to terms with that. I just want to ask that if you're not going to be involved with our community in any other way, please don't use us for point scoring in arguments. Thank you.
Is it ok for a therapist to cry during a session?
I've been seeing this really lovely therapist for a few months now, and during our last session at the end of some schema therapy around my childhood trauma she visibly teared up a bit and had to dab her eyes. I personally really appreciated it - a big part of my trauma was being gaslit and invalidated about what I was experiencing, so to see someone else feeling how painful it was felt really validating. However, my partner thinks that she's crossing a line and crying as a therapist is weird. What's the general consensus?
Dressing the house - is it worth it?
A house down the road from me have draped massive white sheets all over their house from top to bottom, I assume to stop the sun from warming things up. First time I saw it I laughed, second time I smiled, third time I started thinking about it. Does it help? Unsure, but it looks tempting.
My house really is hot, hotter than outside most of the time, and we can't leave the windows open because we have indoor cats that are so desperate to scramble out you'd think we starve them. So, do I reach my peak of head-derived madness and copy that house down the road?
