Unexpected reverb on some voices of sf2 version of Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth

Hi everyone,

I've been looking for a way to use the classic Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth on a modern computer, and found someone had converted it to a soundfont library. So I got hold of TX16w to open soundfont files and opened it up in Dorico.

Some sounds, like the distortion guitar, are exactly as they should be. But others, like the strings and the synth voice, have a big reverb effect added. Any idea why this is, and if there's any way I can get rid of it? I can't see any effects being added anywhere in the chain, or any differences to the ADSR settings that might sound like reverb.

The file is here: https://musical-artifacts.com/artifacts/1983

Would anyone mind checking if this is broken for them too, please? Any advice would be very welcome.

Adjusting Balanced Volume

Hi all,

How would one go about building a volume control (ideally passive, if that's possible) for a balanced signal? It would be XLR in and out. I'd use it to control the DI out from my amp without needing to adjust the amp volume itself.

Hi all,

The advice I've generally been given is that even when a tone pot is fully open (meaning it's only rolling off the minimum amount of tone), the pot and cap still reduces the highs a little. Is this true, and would it make a noticeable difference compared to a similar guitar with no tone pot at all, just volume?
