I'm about to start CSE and plan to move into design after graduation.
I'm considering a MacBook, but I've heard people mention issues with Linux, software compatibility, and other engineering-related stuff. The thing is, I'm completely new to all of this and honestly don't even really understand what Linux is or why it's such a big topic in engineering.
So for people who have used both:
• What are the biggest drawbacks of a MacBook for a CSE student?
• Can someone explain the Mac vs Linux issue in simple terms and whether it's something I should actually care about?
• If my long-term goal is design, would you recommend a Mac or Windows laptop?
I don't want my laptop to become a daily headache during my 4 years of engineering, so I'd really appreciate honest opinions.
Also, if you have specific recommendations: which MacBook would you buy under ₹1.2 lakh? And if Windows is the better choice, I was considering the Lenovo Yoga Slim series, but I've seen mixed reviews, so I'm not sure.
Would love to hear real experiences. Thank you 😭🙏
If it doesn't really matter then pls lmk seniors🙏🙏🙏
