First ever attempt at whittling a creature.

I make Harry Potter wands pretty much exclusively, and that’s where my skill set shines. I followed a YouTube tutorial for this and this is apparently a very simple carving and wow it was a humbling experience. Very difficult for me. But I managed! I did sand it obviously, my skills do not allow me for perfectly smooth surfaces with just a blade. I used some metallic blue paint mixed with either black or white paint to get the different colours and finished it with a clear gloss spray to give it the wet look all frogs deserve.

Hot Wheels Honda civic custom “replica” SC: 154 380 494

The civic used for the hotwheels isn’t in Forza unfortunately, and I couldn’t be bothered to make pixel perfect replications of the text on the car so that’s why I say “Replica”. But it turned out pretty good and I’m very happy with it. My only gripe is the paint job. The paint on the toy is apparently pretty difficult to replicate on forza, but it still looks nice so I’m okay with my effort.

“Bug widow” SC: 925 738 650

Something super simple but effective. The lights on the roof reminded me of a spiders eyes, plus with Spiderman premiering today I got spiders on the brain. I will be making a BND livery too 🕷️

The trial actually felt challenging today.

I beat it on my second try, but this time around I felt I had to fight to keep myself in first and it was a breath of fresh air. I hope the future trials are like this! I used the 458 speciale today and loved the experience . SC: 121177288 for my paint job 👍🏼

Paper dragons - Mazda RX-7 Type R SC: 258 225 392

Nothing super special here. I usually make super simple and clean livery’s but I thought I’d try my hand at something a bit more visually busy. The name doesn’t make perfect sense but I got the idea from the shapes having a bit of a scaled look to them, but also a bit like origami paper ? Idk, I like it though 🤷🏼‍♂️

▲ 6 r/chess

I’m 26 and wanting to get into chess. I know how to play, but that’s the extent of my knowledge. Can I find minor success?

My question is more so about if I’m too late to start learning such a complex sport. Like many other sports I wonder if chess is better learned young and developed with time. Or if at my (not young but not old) age I can learn to be somewhat sufficient. I don’t plan to play in tournaments or strive to beat everyone I meet. But it would be nice to be able to know the game enough to say I’m a good player.
