Lesson learned at the gym today

I usually go to the gym around 4 PM, and it's almost completely empty. Today was push day, so I started with incline bench press and then moved on to flat bench press.

I normally do 35 kg, but today I decided to try 40 kg. It wasn't an ego lift — I just wanted to see if I could handle the next weight.

The first three reps went surprisingly well. The 4th was a struggle, but I managed it.

Then came the 5th rep. I couldn't push the bar back up.

I tried to rack it, but the bar ended up leaning on one side of my chest. I looked around for someone to help, but there was literally nobody around.

For a few seconds, I was genuinely stuck.

Somehow, I managed to find enough strength to get the bar off me and rack it safely.

Lesson learned: I'm not going for heavier weights on bench press unless there's someone nearby who can spot me, or I have the safety bars set properly.

It wasn't an ego lift. I just underestimated how quickly things can go wrong when you're pushing your limits alone.

Anyone else learned a lesson the hard way at the gym? 😅

Looking for advice on cheaper protein options

I can’t afford whey protein at the moment, so I’m considering alternatives like pea protein or yeast protein, which are around ₹1,000.

If I consume the same total amount of protein from these sources, am I missing out on any significant nutritional benefits compared with whey? I’m mainly wondering about amino acid profile, leucine content, protein quality, digestibility, and muscle growth.

For someone trying to build/maintain muscle while keeping costs low, is whey actually worth the extra money, or are these cheaper protein sources good enough?
