thank you guys so much the difference is night and day

in my first post i explained our struggles with keeping our 3 month old shepherd lab mix from biting people

we started forcing naps and even in just the 2/3 days we’ve done this the difference has been insane! he’s been super loving and way more receptive to commands, and most importantly he hardly pulls things off tables or bites people anymore (on purpose at least lol)! whenever he does start to get nippy we put him in his cage for a nap and he’s 100x better when he wakes up. we’re still working on making a routine, but just doing the 2 hours awake 2 hours asleep has worked wonders for his behaviour. we were even considering rehoming because his behaviour was so bad before and nothing we did seemed to work but he is such an angel now 🥹🥹🥹 thank you everyone who commented advice

how to know when im giving enough attention to my puppy?

3 month old shepherd/lab mix

how much time per day should be spent doing hands on activites with the puppy such as playing with him, walks and training? i feel as though our puppy is constantly bored and seeking attention through biting and pulling stuff down from surfaces he can reach. this is also my first time raising a dog and i dont exactly know what bored looks like vs regular puppy behavior. i dont want the dog to feel neglected or unloved and am wondering if it might be better to rehome the dog if we cannot give him the attention he needs. how much time per day should he be left to entertain himself while hes awake?

please help i am at my limit with the biting

my partner adopted a 3 month old neutered male german shepherd /lab mix about 2 and a half weeks ago. my partner and i live together, while the dog is technically his and not mine, partner has a job while i do not as i just graduated hs, so i am the one home with the puppy most of the day and definitely am the one he likes to be around the most and he has ‘chosen’.

the issue is, this dog does not stop biting me unless he is literally sleeping. my feet, legs, and hands are covered in punctures and bites. he has plenty of chewing toys. i have tried different methods such as yelping when he bites so he understands he hurts me, tugging on his leash when he bites, and ignoring him but it does not seem to have made a difference. he hardly bites my partner anymore as i am the one who plays with the dog most of the time. the primary method my partner used to stop the dog from biting him is to put the dog in his lap and hold the dogs mouth shut. i cannot physically do this, i am much smaller and weaker than my partner and have a disability.

could he be biting because he does not get enough playing or enrichment? we did not know he was primarily shepherd when we got him (we were told he was mostly lab) obviously german shepherds are more energetic and require more physical activity. i am limited by my disability in what i can do to care for him in this aspect, but i aim to take him on at least a short walk everyday and play outside with him. it’s hard to play with him as he only seems interested in doing the biting my feet kind of playing even though he has many toys i try to keep him engaged with. he always jumps up on the table to try to get whatever is on there, especially food. does he need more attention? i am very much a cat person and have never raised a dog before, is this his way of getting attention? i fear often that he is bored and that we cannot give him what he needs in terms of activity level and attention . while the dog loves my partner and i, i just want to do what is best for him.

he seems like a very smart dog in general, potty training only took about 3 days, and i taught him the sitting and laying down command within a day each. everything else he has picked up on just fine, it’s just the biting and jumping up on tables thing that he cannot seem to stop doing. sorry for long post

i think my boyfriend is genuinely stupid. how can i help him

my boyfriend is 20 we have been together for almost 9 months. it seems like in everything he does he messes up in some way. he’ll put stuff down on the ground in front of him to do something and then immediately trip over it when he moves. if he’s cooking and needs to come to a different room he’ll bring the food he’s preparing with him instead of leaving it in the kitchen. he doesn’t hold the door for people in stores- yesterday a family was walking into a store and the father held the door open for the rest of the family and my bf kinda just ran thru them to get out of the store (??). he’s super clumsy and always injures himself and sometimes me by accident. he is a terrible driver, it seems like almost every time i get in the car with him we almost get into an accident, i’ve been noticing just how bad it is recently since i don’t have a car anymore and he drives me a lot of places. one time we were getting on a train and one of the train workers was standing by the door and instead of asking him to move he tried to push himself through the gap to get inside (this failed obviously). he doesn’t understand math very well, in late 2025 he was taking a course that was basically like algebra 1 and 2 combined and he just could not grasp it. math skill isn’t an indicator of intellect of course but still. he is in college and gets good grades but he cheats on most stuff, especially math assignments.
he just seems to have a lack of basic common sense. i suspect he is on the autism spectrum. his whole family has autism so this may have just been the way he was brought up. i always tell him to try to be more aware but nothing seems to help. i love him and he’s the sweetest but i don’t want him to always make his life harder for himself by making dumb choices.
