Custom Snowsky Echo Mini firmware with Gapless layback and fast navigation.
Hi. Short disclaimer first: this is not a reskin, or a monkey patch of the official firmware, or some hallucinated AI bullshit. This is my passion project, a complete rewrite of the Echo Mini firmware from scratch on a free GCC ARM toolchain I've been working on during the last months in an attempt to regain my sanity after losing a job and a faith in the industry.
I'm a struggling engineer who just wanted some fun and a challenge, and decided to have gapless playback and fast convenient navigation on my Echo Mini.
I went an extra mile and made it compatible with the official firmware so that you can painlessly switch back the same way you update your firmware today.
After testing it on my device and a couple of friends' devices I think it's finally ready for a spotlight.
It's smaller, much faster, HAS GAPLESS PLAYBACK and decent navigation that allows to play a folder with a discography with a single click, and low volume control.
It doesn't and will never have snake oil "digital enhancements" settings.
Being quite early in the development cycle, it only supports FLAC and WAV and (intentionally) doesn't have SD card enabled.
I'd like to hear your feedback. Please read the warnings and learn the shortcomings before you flash: https://recho.atzkey.workers.dev/
Partial solar eclipse today in Warsaw, K-1ii with 24-70/2.8.
Unfortunately, sub-optimal location, couldn't travel farther than the balcony due to work, but still was able to catch a little bit of today's eclipse. Love how well Pentax handles long multi-exposures and stays absolutely cool.
