i finished up meatlug's custom background for his upgrade. i spread silicone on the glass to give the spray foam something to grip onto, i then sprayed down some great stuff pond and stone and made sure to secure the cork. :- )
i spent a little while cutting the foam down to make it look less like foam and more like rock, before laying down a thin layer of silicone across the entire thing and then patting a mixture of reptisoil and reptisand into the silicone.
i'm pretty proud of the results! i'll be (hopefully) setting things up tomorrow when i purchase the last few things that i need. it looks a bit drab and gray right now but with the plants, wood, and substrate i'm sure it'll look less sad. it's supposed to replicate a semi-arid grassland environment so i guess it works haha

finally picked up my boy's forever tank, a 25 gallon zoo-med terrarium. it was on sale for $83!!!! i'm letting the custom background cure and i'll flip it tmrw.
i'll be planting it with a couple species:
- blue carex sedge
- spiderplant
- asplenium thunbergii
my goal is to replicate the gran chaco in south america, where c. cranwelli is native to, the best i can. i'll be picking up some manzanita wood tomorrow as well as a cleanup crew! i also have an arcadia shadedweller and some led plant lights on the way. i'll be using a mix of reptisoil and reptisand, with a little bit of excavator clay to help replicate the clay and sand-based soils of the gran chaco. i'll share* *the setup when it's done! i'm very excited to finally do this upgrade and to get my boy into something that feels like his native grasslands.

little dude has been coming through the area because of the tuna/wet food/canned chicken we've been leaving out for our cat who's been lost for ~2 weeks, he has a little limp in his back leg and absolutely scarfed down the chicken in the trap. glad he got a meal though! i released him shortly after taking this video, i made sure to move slowly and softly as to not freak the little guy out. he didn't even show any negative body language :- ) very cute little guy!!!! 10/10 experience and one of my firsts with wild skunks

i decided to excavate the pupae from their pupation chambers as they should be emerging verrrryyy soooon, they're huge! thought this sub would enjoy some nice pupae photos haha, i find it so interesting how you can see their moth features through it all. they're around 4 weeks into pupation, i raised them from caterpillars.

my intention was to get madagascar hissers, but i saw the tank full of halloween hissers and HAD to bring two of them home.

side note, can madagascar hissers and halloween hissers be safely cohabbed? they're living in the same 4 gallon tote as my male madagascar hisser because he needed companions and i assumed it'd be alright, and i haven't seen any conflict. they've been huddled up in the same cork log for a while, but i have three hides spread across the tote. all of them are males, so no hybridizing!

meatlug is a weird fellow. he leaves the hole he's in after feeding and then comes up to the glass until i either leave or give him more food

just curious to see what people have named their frogs after, i see so many referenced names and i can't help but be curious :- )

i'll go first, this is my frog meatlug and what he was named after

i have a juvenile pacman, meatlug, i've posted him a lot here. he's growing fast and he's a VERY voracious eater, but i'm wondering how much he should be fed now that he's really getting larger? the last time i checked his length he was around 2 and a half inches long and that was around two weeks ago. i feed daily right now, but i'm worried it's too much for his size and age. help would be appreciated!

an age estimate would also be awesome, if anyone's able to do that. thanks!
