Weekly Events Thread - August 17th to 23rd

I hear you loud and clear. The AI event flyers are getting cumbersome and the whole feed looks like something out of the Disney Channel. From here forth I will return to hand typing the Weekly Events Thread. It will be pinned at the top of the Subreddit and replaced each Sunday.

Rule #5 - Events, meets, and rides. has been updated. "You may create your own posts to find riding buddies or discuss meet-ups, rides, and events. AI created event flyers are no longer allowed. We are happy to help you create a flyer or add the event information to the Weekly Events Thread, just send it to us in a Mod Mail. All state/local laws apply."

Now back to what matters!

Pleasant Mills

Took an early ride around Mullica River and Batsto area, stopped at Pleasant Mills for this cool old compound.

Anyone up for a morning ride tomorrow? (Southern Ocean County)

I'll leave my house in Barnegat between 630-7 and will go any direction to meet up if there's interest. Just trying to put a couple hours down and get home, nothing too crazy. Even just a ride in to have coffee is great with me.

Henry .357 "Bash Can"

My Henry .357 anwii-baashkizigan (rifle) in Ojibwe, that I affectionately call the Bash Can. Just got it back together and had a fun little range day on Saturday.

I didn't really get any progress photos, but I stripped and sanded the original finish and my dad carved a design around the buttstock. I then applied a reddish oil-based stain I had leftover in the garage and two coats of Danish Oil. It retained an almost identical shade to factory but without the gloss.

It has a lever wrap from Hellhound Leather, and I fashioned two cheap d-rings from a purse repair kit to the swivel mounts. The buttstock has two horse hair faux scalp locks and the foregrip drapes an Eagle feather. The beads are a mix of deer bone and glass crow beads.

I hope you enjoy! Also, you guys take great photos and I just could not replicate that with my phone no matter what I tried, haha.

Soar to new heights with Evel Knievel! SC: 180 059 946

I am no pro at livery art, but it looks good at 100MPH.

Reddit LBI Ride In, Saturday 5/23

Let's meet our fellow Redditors!

This is pretty much the last chance of getting onto the island before it looks like Thunder Road. Nothing big, let's meet in the parking lot by Paul Jr's motorcycle showroom - that puts us walking distance to a bar, a burger joint, a coffee shop, and at least two other restaurants. Hang out for an hour or so and we can follow with a ride for those interested.

Saturday May 23rd @ Noon

Public parking lot adjacent to Paul Jrs.

1714 Long Beach Blvd, Ship Bottom, NJ 08008

Great Bay Boulevard @ Little Egg Harbor, NJ

I've posted about this road before, and with how great today's weather was I decided to grab a video of the ride in.

Welcome to the Weekly Events and Happenings Thread.

Posted every Sunday, here you can discuss where you are riding this week, schedule meet ups, and find new events happening near you.

This is designed to be a little less "official" than making your own event post and we welcome open discussion. Please keep all posts related to this week only (Sunday to Sunday), if you have a great event planned for next week please wait until the new thread starts or just post it as an Event / Let's Ride on the main page.

FAQs

Where is a good place to host a meetup?

-Anywhere you want! Find out who's around you and look for a diner to share a coffee. Or, host a "shop day" at your garage to help your fellow riders conduct maintenance and modifications in a safe location. The possibilities are endless!

How do I find local events in my town?

-Many events are recurring and can be reliably found on the same day each month. A great example is Cherry Hill Cycle Gear, which hosts a Bike Night on the 2nd Tuesday each month.

-Other options include Facebook and forum sites like CycleFish. Much like Reddit, they are community driven and stuff does fall through the cracks - so check often and let us know what you find!
