One channel grinding

I've taken this apart and checked all the gears , alignment etc - all seems to be ok. I've changed the PTFE tube, tried a different port in the AMS hub, flashed the firmware to the latest and chosen softload. Still does this grinding thing (albeit waaaaay less than it was). Was failing to load most times previously - not doing that now, so I'm moving in the right direction here!

Any thoughts on what I can look at next to get this loading as cleanly as the other three channels?

Hanging when changing filament?

New BMCU build (hall sensor, high torque). Have a 'sometimes' issue of the filment change getting caught somehow. It's almost like it's not being detected at the A1 end - it pushes forward but just either keeps pushing (and emitting a loud grinding noise) or pauses with pressure on the filament. Usually wiggling the four-into-one part on the A1 will sort it.

Would be great to iron this out - what's the best place to start? Software/firmware? (I read something about 'soft push' firmware). Or the BMCU modules themselves?

Is there such a thing as a 3710C DM Pro?

Or is this just a typo in the manual?

>Note: For the BMCU 3710C DM Pro sub-motherboard, the positive and negative poles eed to be soldered in reverse. Install the red on the negative pole and the black on the positive pole. Otherwise, after installation, the motor will rotate in the opposite direction.

Assuming that's a typo, can anyone confirm this for my 370 DM Pro? I definitely need to solder the power connectors to the motor around the 'wrong' way?

Does this part matter?

Circled in red - spaghetti every time. Have tried adding supports with no change. New roll of Bambu petg, rest of the print is fine. It seems to have no structural purpose - would I be ok to use the prints with this bit missing?

Brass 3D prints...

New 3D printer owner here. So far I've printed:

  • Mutes (Straight, cup and plunger)
  • Mute holders
  • Trumpet stand
  • More mouthpieces than I care to admit!

I need inspiration - what are your favourite brass-related 3D prints?

12 month CXL follow up

My now 15 y/o son had his cross linking done 12 months ago. Was a whirlwind at the time with his diagnosis and discovery that he was basically blind in his left eye. A hell of a thing as a parent - he was and still is remarkably nonchalant about it tho hahah.

Anyways, just got back from his 12 month followup yesterday. 10 hours on the road to/from the appointment (the joys of living in rural New Zealand). You can't imagine the relief when you hear that not only have his numbers stabilised, he's actually a little better in his left eye, with indications that his right might be improving as well. He'd also pretty much given up on ever getting his drivers license, so the icing on the cake was his Specialist saying that he now sees (hah) no issues at all when the time comes.

What a relief. What an amazing time we live in. Who knows what amazing advances the future will bring for KC patients.

Clarity on which version to purchase

There are lots of options on kits and versions of the BMCU itself - I think I've decided that the 370 C DM Pro is the one to go with, due to upgraded gears, torque etc. Assuming that's correct, does this Package C look appropriate? I'm happy with a soldering iron, and I assume that the appropriate cases are easy enough to find on Makerlab. Is there anything else I'd need to get a functional BMCU system?

Does anyone have a photo of the internals of a Majestic Harmonic timpani?

Ours has a broken note indicator. With the head off I can clearly see the linkage that is broken, however there doesn't seem to be enough travel in the mechanism to allow it to connect back up - I'm wondering if there is an additional part of the linkage that has been lost. Thanks for any and all help!
