Now I know I got a lot of reddit lambs mad yesterday for stating the obvious about the cheap-ass HFIA shoot. But how can you appreciate the good if you can’t recognize the bad ?

Well now that we did the later, let's do the former and start the week-end with some positivity and prove that Mariah - without needing to do Madonna-like poses and rock a pink leotard - can still be a strong visual artist when she wants to, even in her 50s.

The GTFO vid is terribly underrated even amongst the fandom. Yet it's pure perfection in its simplest form. The wigs (!), make-up, fashion, lighting, photography, colormetry, acting. Everything. The main purpose of a music video is to illustrate a song and give visual life to it to make the listening experience even deeper. And the GTFO vid really managed to recreate its atmosphere and vibe, the same way The Roof vid also perfectly managed to do so. Watching it, I'm truly feeling like I'm here at 3am into the drunken intimacy of that one time too many hot desillusioned hot m*lf, who's at 40 something yo is way past the time of being heartbroken and crying her eyes out but is just over it all. She wanted to believe that the last relationship would finally be the one, but deep inside she already knew it was bound to fail, the way dozen of her previous ones already did and, inevitably, it also did. Yeah, she's mad and tired of it all but at the same she's calm and stoicist about it all. Her skin grew thick because of all her past love treasons. One bottle of red wine will do the job, tomorrow she'll wake up with a semi-hangover and headache, take some medecine, go on with her life, until the next try at a soon-to-fail relationship, and so on. The vid is the continuation of Crybaby's one. The nightly tears and breaking things energy are gone. The 20s are now long past and time did its hardening thing through failed experiences after failed experiences. That's life. That's sad and that's beautiful and universal at the same time. And that little video captured all of that. Oh Mariah the artist that you are and the visual queen that you can be when you want to. Let's give it its flowers this week-end

For me :

- It's obviously no masterpiece but it's a cute breezy summerbop that could have been a lil success had they given it the promo Type Dangerous got instead

- I mostly skip it on the album but I really like listening to it on loop on the side when I"m in the mood (whereas I also skip TD but never feel the desire to listen to it)

- I actually really like the way Mariah sings in falsetto in the pre-chorus ("Hate when you have to leave...") which was criticized by some. For some reasons it's pleasantly stimulating my ears. Has she ever sung this way before ? Crazy that she still being creative with her voice almost 40 years in

- I like the "I'm gonna use my expertise" line lol. So Mariah

- I need her to release her solo version on streaming

- I needed an accoustic version with the "doo doo doo" she did in the TikTok teaser where she's cleaning around. That was so good

- It deserved hot tropical remixes (again, instead of TD, that messy track which ate all the budget away). Actually she should have more of them in the vibe of ILT Esentrik, kinda tired of all her club remixes being so heavy and 90s sounding

- She could try a TMB/SS medley in her future shows, that'd work better than the tired Heartbreaker/Honey one. I liked the Loving U Long Time/TMB medley back in 2008 in the same vibe

What about you ?

It feels like I got two radio stations playing over each other. Can any musically trained lambs explain what's wrong with it ? I'd like to like as much as the Cameo version but it's so headache inducing. Mariah had got a flawless track record by that point in her use of samples but somehow this one just doesn’t land, it feels like a cheaply and badly made YT mashup, whereas it sounds extremely smooth in Lopez's "I'm Real".

Do you think it was just never finished and polished because of the sample stealing ? That could be it but it still featured in one of the early Glitter trailers which would imply it was ready to be released before it all went down

Pour la faire courte : un dentiste m’avait détecté 2 caries il y a quelques mois, puis manque de temps, déménagement. Je vais dans un nouveau cabinet, panoramique, la dentiste me dit que tout est OK. J’ai demandé si elle était sure qu’il n’y avait aucune carie, elle me confirme. Je suis pas allé plus loin pcq aucune envie de me faire soigner par qqn incapable de détecter une carie, donc petit détartrage et ciao avant de chercher un nouveau dentiste.

Une situation exactement similaire m’était déjà arrivée il y a quelques années.

Donc en extrapolant sur mes expériences perso, j’imagine même pas le nombre d’erreurs de détection.

La conclusion étant : à quand de faire lire automatiquement les radios par des IA qui seront évidemment bien plus performantes que des humains pressés et/ou fatigués ? Ça parait assez simple comme technologie, ça fait gagner du temps et de l’efficacité au practicien et devrait pas coûter des milles et des cents dans le cadre d’un abonnement (au regard des autres investissements en dur d’un cabinet) donc à quand sa mise en place et sa généralisation ?
