I accidentally sold a put option and now I owe 70k USD.

How the fuck is this possible? I swear on my life that I don't sell put options so this was a misclick while I was trading.

Because I didn't know I sold a put. I didn't close it and now my account got liquidated and I owe 70k USD.

Am I actually fucked? How the fuck did one 350 USD contract turn into 70k USD.

Employers won't hire new graduates

I had brunch earlier with my coworker and the conversation went to employers hiring practicies. He told me that employers avoid hiring new grads and would rather rehire laid off employees.

My coworker said that employers fear that the new grads they trained might leave them. But they would lay off their employees in a heartbeat when a project is finished. Its ridiculous.

Edit: I would like to add that I only got minimal training. A workload was dumped on my first day of work and I had to learn the job slowly. That was my training.

Just for context, I work for an engineering consulting firm so it's common to know your competitors and jumping ship is not frowned upon since some firms get only minor projects and have to lay off people to save money and those people can jump ship to competitors who get major projects.

I know one person who does not follow instructions of the project manager and made so much mistakes when drafting. That person got laid off after TWO years of working and got hired to another competitor which eventually they got laid off again due to the same problem.

I was surprised that they got hired again because the competitor company got another major project.

Seriously these companies are not willing to take a risk at training new graduates and would rather rehire bad employees that are already "trained".

Edit: I removed the part about the person's language and communication since people are messaging me that diversity is our strength. That it is better to hire employees that you can't properly communicate as long as the office has a good diversity balance. I'm also an immigrant but I learned how to communicate in english since I believe that communication is vital in a work environment and professionalism. But that is my opinion.

Creating new job and hiring employees are two different things.

I was watching the news about Canada creating new jobs but I looked around and my friends are jobless. Then I got an epiphany, that creating new jobs that the government is always talking about is different than actually hiring employees.

The wordplay of creating new jobs is as real as ghost jobs. A company can post as many ghost job notices and not hire anyone but the government still count it as creating new jobs.

The talking point of politicians should be how many employees are hired rather than how many jobs are created.
