Boat Suggestion

Hi all, I’m looking to get into a 14’ aluminum boat for cruising up and down rivers to camp and fish and also do a bit of lake fishing.

I’m hoping for some recommendations on boat style. I know flat bottom is better for shallow rivers but not very stable for larger lakes.

Anyone have any first hand experience running both rivers and lakes?

Trail Runners vs. Hiking Boots

I’m hiking the NCT through Pictured Rocks in late August. This is my second time doing it. My first time through I dealt with a little feet swelling. Nothing crazy… but it was noticeable. I was wearing waterproof Columbia hiking shoes.. they’re comfortable but pretty heavy and bulky. I love these shoes and they’ve served me very well over the last few years but I’m thinking it might be time for a switch.

I need to get a new pair of shoes so I can start breaking them in for this trip and am considering switching to non-waterproof trail runners so they’ll be lighter and breathable.

What do you guys think?

River Camping

Hi all, I’m looking for some guidance. I want to do a long kayak float and camp next spring and I’ll have some guys with me from the older generation.

Anyone have any idea on longest float in the lower without portages? I am hoping to camp three nights and not force the older guys to portage or paddle too much. 10-15 miles per day float would be perfect.

Limited time on the Holy Waters

I’m heading up to Grayling for the weekend for some family stuff and have a few hours Friday to wade and fly fish the Holy Waters stretch. Has anyone been lately and what would you be throwing for your highest chances?

TIA, new to this stretch.

First time builder, first time poster.

Just hoping for a tiller check on my first bow. It’s oak, 64” from tip to tip. This is at 14” draw and I’m afraid to move on. Also, my tree has a slight gangster lean to the left - keep that in mind.

Thanks for any and all help.

(Excuse my mess)
