From Nice to Chamonix

What is the best public transportation option? I just punched in these two places in Google Maps and the results were 10-15 hours with multiple transfers. Is there any other option that is shorter time and fewer transfers? If I add Lyon between Nice and Chamonix, how many nights should I stay in Lyon?

The Mills at Jersey Gardens

Does this outlet mall have shopping trolley for rent? We are international tourists visiting NYC for the first time and have a 1am flight going home. We are thinking of spending the last day at the mall since it is right by Newark airport. This means we will have our luggage, 2 large and 2 small suitcases, with us. If they don’t have shopping trolley or luggage storage service, is it realistic to actually walk around inside the place with our luggage? And calling an uber to Newark airport around 8pm will be easy? Thanks for your advice!

Should we download some apps that will make riding the train easier? Are there discounts for group of 4 or for transferring to NYC metro? Thanks for your advice in advance!

Bienen music scholarship

I am a rising junior and I am working on putting a plan together for college applications which will kick off in a year. I hope to double major in music and business/economics. And to be honest, I can’t afford college without substantial scholarship. Since I am international, I won’t qualify for financial aid at NU. Could any past and current Bienen music scholars share their experiences about NU applications which led to the music scholarship and the ongoing efforts to maintain the scholarship in good standing?

Flying with A and Bb clarinets

I expect to fly internationally with two clarinets for the first time within the next year. I have never travelled before with musical instruments so I don’t know what to expect and how to prepare for it. Both are r13 with the originally buffet cases. I am guessing that I should bring them on board as carry on and keep them close by the entire time. When I go out for events that I need to use both, I usually put the Bb in the A double case and put the case in a large backpack. Does this sound alright for flying? I am allowed to bring a A double case with 2 clarinets inside as carry in luggage that can clear through all security check points?

Change of passenger info

Our family will be riding the Amtrak for the first time this summer. Initially I purchased 4 adult tickets and was able to use the v291 discount code. However, there has been a change and instead of my mom it will be my niece who is only 15 coming with us. I remember at time of purchase I input the passenger names and DOb info etc… will it be a problem that there is a total change of passenger? Do they really check each passenger’s ID to verify name and DOB?

Recoding device for LTCL

I play the clarinet but it isn’t as active over there so I am here hoping to get some advice from those who have done the Trinity digital exams. Did you use any special recording device which improved the overall sound quality? For ATCL I used my iPhone’s video recoding function, it worked fine but I hope to find something that can cut down the background noise and make the clarinet sound more focused and center. I am looking for something not too expensive that doesn’t require an extra person to operate.

We have a long haul flight from Newark to Tokyo with a connection in Seoul in the summer. This was booked through an online travel agent who thinks I should be able to pre-select seats free of charge but I have to do it myself. But when I went on to Air Premia’s website it says I can’t. It seems to have to do with the fact the I have a connecting flight. So I emailed the customer service but they don’t seem to ever reply at all. For such long haul we really prefer to seat next to each other. Does anyone have similar experience and how si you manage to make seat selection prior to airport check in?
