Why do all the screech owls look like they judge me?

and what do they judge? 🙄Every single screecher we rehabbed this year looked at me like this 😂

Barn owl babies being fed

we had an active pair in spring and hope AlmaAndFriedel come back for a fall clutch. Alma was the most attentive mom and the sounds are just epic I think. Hope this brings you as much joy as it brings us 🥰

First home grown / own gen of worms

THANK YOU to all who share all those valuable tips how to make raising mealworms a success

Look at my first own Gen 👏👏👏
we used to buy dried as snacks for joeys and other critters due to costs at the rehab center. Now I hope to maintain at least a small colony with several ages / sizes for next spring to help limit costs and accommodate small songbird etc.

Oats and bran
carrot slices every 3 days
powdered rat food (the crumbs from the bottom of the Mazuri rat blocks we use for our pet rats) once a month for the worms
pretty high pop in the beetle container
removing beetles from container every 2 1/2 weeks letting the worms develop
New container for beetles w fresh set up
Using small storage containers and the old small pet shop typical tubs originally purchased w starter worms
Room temp

feeding the worms as treats and for training to just about anything at the rehab center from birds to armadillo especially to teach orphans to catch their prey.

any suggestions what else you feed are welcome 🤗

Fingers crossed this continues as well as it has so far (4 months)

Barn Owl Babies always grow up so fast!

6 of 7 babies made it! With das going missing at 3 weeks old! We tossed mom some feeder mice every day until she could leave the clutch & hunt. Then we supported her again when they got ao big she utterly had to bring in 3 bunnies to feed them. When they started flight school we ceased support to they get motivated. A HUGE thanks to our local raptor rehabber

TW: prey photo - that time when owl dad brought home a bunny

Barn owl mom Alma had to feed 7 owlets and usually it was rats and mice but every now and then barn owl dad Friedel brought home a cotton tail bunny to feed his fam. It was sad and happy tears at the same time (is that ugly crying then?) It was unique to spy on them and we hope to have a fall/winter clutch in the new box ❤️(CTX, barn owls breed year round here).

CTX, the artist and his master piece 🎉

our box needed renewal and the handy man went to work 🥰Limited hight, space and weight restrictions considered, it still came out roomier than the old one and accommodates a nest cam 🎉now we hope the owls love this one as much as the old one 🤞

Need advice for rescued baby Possum

I need advice asap. I don't use Reddit, but figured this was the fastest place to get real human info. Just scooped up a small, juvenile possum from the middle of highway traffic in Atlanta. I didn't see a mother or siblings around and wasn't near any nature or treeline. He seems scared and physically exhausted. I have no idea if he is big enough to be without his mother. Should I let him recoup with some shade and water and then just let him go in some woods, or do I need to find a sanctuary or something to give him care like a mother would? he is a little smaller than my (fairly small) hand. Thanks so much!!!

Just a bunch of opossums at the wildlife center #wildliferescue #wildlifeshorts #cuteanimals

we were thrilled when all these joeys and all the next orphaned litters that came in ALL made it. Statistically speaking - what were the odds!!!! absolutely thrilled at how many made it and it appears ppl stop sooner when finding run over moms on the side of the road because more and more often joeys are alive & not filled w toxic dead mom milk yet❤️Keep harping about it y‘all. STOP FOR ROAD KILL. Especially OPOSSUMS TO SEE IF IT IS A MOM❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏

running out of White tail deer formula

hope someone been there and has a true & tested successful suggestion
Location: CTX - rehab center - ran out of 33/30 for WTD fawns.
Fresh goat milk donations come in but soooo many fawns this year it is not a medium term solution.

What formula close enough do u “composed” to fit 33/30 fawn Fox Valley Day One? It is literally sold out everywhere and our orders won’t get here before 7/15 but local farm store had Purina Kid as well as Purina Lamb formula

anyone ever temp raise fawns for about 10 days / 2 wks on Lambs 25/30 adding whey protein isolate for example?
Other successful alternatives?

thanks so much for your experiences 😍and for all you do out there ❤️
