Just picked up a didge, many beginner questions

To preface: my mom one day walked in my room and just handed me a 3-4ish ft plastic didgeridoo she picked up at a yard sale for like $10. It plays nice enough for my purposes and has a rubber mouth piece that fits so it works. It’s quite a bit better than the random pvc pipe I’ve screwed around on before. I know it’s not incredibly authentic or whatever but I spend too much money on playing the bass and guitar anyway so I’m alright with my tertiary instrument being cheap.

I’ve watched some videos for beginner didgeridoo, haven’t learned to circular breathe (yet), but I noticed the guy in the video had a much present and buzzier high end than I can get on mine. I can make decent sounding low notes and some higher ones, but my tone doesn’t sound anything like that. I can get somewhat decent embouchure and tone out of it, but nothing super high and buzzy. Is this a technique thing or is that just something I shouldn’t expect out of a plastic didge?

As it is I’ve already brought it to the Santa Monica pier and played alongside my friend on harmonica (nothing serious or done for any money, just having some fun)

I’ve also tried this thing for fun where I kind of throat sing into it, both having my voice project and my lips vibrate to create sound in a traditional way. It reverberates back, creating an interesting sound, though I don’t know if this is any real technique or just me screwing around.

As admittedly silly as it seems to other people (and myself as of a week ago) I actually want to learn this instrument at a level to where I can have some fun jamming with it and play some real music. My perceptions of it being a sort of “joke instrument” like a vuvuzela or kazoo have completely vanished as I’ve learned more about it and its history. Any help in beginner knowledge or technique would be greatly appreciated!

What should I do about a jaguar saddle pinching my e string?

I’m restringing my Squier CV 70s jaguar with Ernie ball mammoth strings for low tuning (yes, unconventional, I get it) and I have a lot of buzzing and dead notes at the high frets. No matter how high I raise the bridge it won’t fix the issue. I see that the .62 is sitting on top of the saddle slot without sitting inside it, same as the other buzzing strings. They do not buzz when open or at the low frets, only the higher ones. I already widened the nut slots with some basic needle files I found (it’s not perfect but it seems good enough to me at least)

From what I can see, the string is not rattling against the other frets at all, but is buzzing and dead at these higher frets (starting somewhat at the 9th and increasing dramatically once past the 12th) anyway. This didn’t happen before I changed to this new set of strings, so I assume that is related to the problem.

Should I attempt to file down the saddle slot to make it wider? If so I cannot afford to spend $100 on proper nut files for this one project, is there any alternative to this? Is this even likely the cause of my issue?

Distortion on a single coil jag?

Is there any great way to distort a single coil jaguar? I’ve tried running it through high gain amps and distortion pedal models using amplitube and whatever I’m getting is sounding thin and weak. I’m not even able to get distortion as strong as songs typically played on other single coils like strats.

I can get a nice lightly driven tone by using a cranked mesa California amp sim into a fender reverb cab sim, but that aren’t what I’m looking for every song. It has the best clean tone of any guitar I’ve ever played, but I just can’t make it distort right. Short of pickup replacements, is there anything I can do to make this tone achievable or am I stuck to a life of being in a Dick Dale cover band?

I’m a dude who is new to having long hair, did I ruin it?

I’ve been growing out my hair for roughly 2-3 years at this point (roughly an inch or two past the bottom of my shoulder blade) and admittedly haven’t taken great care of it. I wash with shampoo and use conditioner of course but I brush it (with a brush with flexible bristles) as soon as I get out of the shower while it’s still wet and yank through the tangles. I know this is bad but it’s what’s been happening and I only recently realized it wasn’t good for my hair. I honestly just don’t have time or the skill to pick through my hair for 20 minutes a day, so this is what I did.

Due to this I have a ton of flyaways and split ends and it looks kind of bad at times and people have called it majestic at others. I treat it like straight hair even though it’s wavy because my mom has completely straight hair and when mine is short it looks straight too. I like having long hair cause I’m a metalhead but I’m not sure it likes having me.

It feels the best and looks the healthiest when I shower at night, go to bed with it wet, and wake up with some curl in it, though I don’t like how uncontrolled and messy it looks and wish I could get the curls in a more natural manner. Because of this, I either keep it tied up most of the time or shower in the day and brush it straight before important events.

I don’t have the money or time to have a long routine with a million different products so ideally something that is only one or two steps and takes less than 10 minutes would work.

Should I just cut it shorter (like the dude from the big Lebowski) or find a way to fix this at its current length?
