Is my order actually coming from the US?

I ordered some shoelaces off of Etsy. Package is marked as shipped, but just "shipment info received."

However, the seller is using something called YunExpress to ship. When looking into it, I gathered that they are a Chinese company that handles shipping into the US. However, the Etsy seller claims to be based in and ship from the US.

I need to know if my package is actually coming from within the US. I don't want to be hit with any surprise fees. Does YunExpress also ship for US to US? The reason I'm confused is because the tracking SAYS US to US, but I can't find anything saying they even do this. Can anyone help? Screenshot attached.

Can I successfully listen to lossless on my Momentum 4s when wired? I don't want to lose out on audio quality.

I learned a bit after buying that these can be used wired. Somehow didn't realize this, thought the included wire was JUST for planes. As such, I may not need to invest in a pair of dedicated wired closed back headphones!

But for that to be the case, I need to know if lossless, high quality sound is even possible with these, even when wired. I've switched to downloading FLACs and stuff now that I've learned of the audiophile sphere and became obsessed with bettering my listening experience. Bluetooth and YouTube music ain't cutting it anymore. I'm sick of lossy audio. But if I don't have to, I don't want to buy even more headphones (I'm already planning on getting open backs for at home).

That said, I'm getting mixed results on if wired connection even works "properly." Some people are saying using a wired connection is resulting in WORSE audio quality than Bluetooth.

I've read that the headphones have a built in DAC, but should I get a separate one so they can play from my phone properly?

Basically: Will my Momentum's suffice, or do I need to invest in another pair? If they can suffice, how do I make them do so?

Any help is appreciated, any questions you have for me can be answered.

Help me find my ideal headphones.

Looking for wired open AND closed back for different use cases. Open for in my room, closed for on the bus.

I'm new to the audiophile sphere. I love headphones. Bought refurbished Momentum 4's after years of earbuds only, and by God I was missing out. Then I switched to downloading FLACs and using Poweramp over Spotify and YouTube Music. Even better. But I've learned it gets better if you switch to wired.

My search for a DAC/AMP will happen once I establish my headphones, but if you have recommendations to go along with your headphones, go ahead.

My budget is very flexible, I have no problem saving for a period of time. For the sake of having a number, I don't want to spend more than eight-hundred dollars per pair of headphones. I won't be buying them both at the same time anyway.

My music taste is where things get... complicated. I listen to so much. I listen to Nine Inch Nails (surely we all know them, right? If not, listen to Ringfinger or Ruiner, those are my favorite songs by them), but I also listen to a lot of Vocaloid, my favorite producer being Maretu. Listen to a song called Suji by that artist for an idea of the overstimulating trash I like.

I think one of the main things all my favorite songs have in common is a lot of electronic stuff, but there are exceptions to that as well. This means I spend a lot of time fucking with EQ settings in my Poweramp app. So something real versatile is necessary.

Sound quality and immersion is most important to me. I want to feel my music and tap out. I want to be able to make out parts of songs I never noticed before. Recommend me the headphones that will make me ASCEND.

Feel free to ask for more information if needed, I merely provided what I think relevant.

What is the process of dealing with student who was in a fight but not the aggressor?

Hi, r/AskAcademia! I wanted to preface this with some extra information. One, I'm a writer (of fanfiction). Two, I am not super familiar with how disciplinary procedures work in universities. Three, the very beginning of my fanfic has my main character get involved in an altercation, which was not their fault. I'm only really familiar with the "zero-tolerance" policies that middle and high schools have. I'm sure all establishments deal with these things differently, but I'd like to lay out the specific situation I'm writing and hear how you think this would be handled at your particular institution. If this doesn't fit the sub, feel free to let me know, because while I think it does, I'm sure the mods know better than someone who has browsed this sub twice.

Okay, so basically, we have a nineteen-year-old freshman (our protagonist), who is attending their unnamed public university on a scholarship. Said scholarship has a condition of good behavior, as many scholarships do. They live on-campus and is tutoring another student. Other student's girlfriend is weird and gets jealous. Girlfriend is NOT a student, but shows up in the dorm area because, as the significant other of the OTHER student, she has permission to be on campus. However, this time, she shows up with the intention of confronting freshman protagonist. She barrages them with questions before demanding to see protagonist's phone. They respond sarcastically, which leads to her grabbing their hair and beginning the actual altercation. Protagonist yells out for help, but also kicks the original aggressor because they are panicked. They are able to get girlfriend off of their hair, but get punched in the jaw, resulting in the loss of a tooth. In response, protagonist kicks her again. This was right as the police (campus security?) show up, as another student witnessed the encounter. Because girlfriend notices the police before protagonist does, she uses that to her advantage and lets herself fall over to make it look like protagonist was the aggressor. Protagonist is arrested and let go relatively quickly because cameras documented everything. Then the big plot thing happens on their way back from the station (this has nothing to do with what I need help with). They spend the night in their dorm (which I'll mention is a single person dorm, dunno if that's relevant) being worried about expulsion and loss of scholarship.

Now that I've explained all of that, I just need to know how this situation would be handled so I know where to go from there! Should my protagonist be expelled? Lose their full ride scholarship? Otherwise punished for even being involved? Or does nothing happen because it was all self defense and they only kicked her twice and there are cameras to prove it? I have ideas for either direction, but I like to be realistic and do my research.

Finally got stuff for my IHNMAIMS (featuring Harlan Ellison) ita bags!

Everything except the five circular pins and the keychain of AM with a princess crown was designed by yours truly! I'm gonna make another post soon of all of my designs so you can do what you will with them.

I got super lucky to find bags with a digital-inspired design (I got them from a website called the Artistry Collection. They were limited edition and I dunno if they're still being sold. Bought me a while back). One is a backpack and the other is a shoulder bag.

One day I will design some stuff for Benny, Nindok and Gorrister (plus more stuff for Ellen because it's basically all AM and Ted. Oops) and add them to my bags, but I wanted to share what I have for now.

The circular pins were from Redbubble and the AM with a princess crown was a random image in my camera roll.

The Harlan Ellison Hornbook— signed!

I missed out on an auction for a signed copy of the edition of IHNMAIMS with the game cover and was quite sad. Unfortunately, nobody is selling any other copies for a normal price. But since getting into IHNMAIMS, I've developed quite the fascination with Ellison, and I discovered The Harlan Ellison Hornbook, which is a collection of his essays. Even better, I came across a signed copy of it for only fifty-five bucks!

I did some digging to verify the authenticity of the signature, and I'm pretty damn sure it's a real one. And so I made my purchase. It arrived today. Couldn't be happier. So sorry to the mods if this doesn't fit the sub, but I wanted to brag in the largest sub dedicated to something Harlan Ellison related. I'm truly just so happy, and will now be bragging elsewhere.

In the absence of IHNMAIMS merch, I'm making my own... and you can, too!

I plan to buy some stuff off of Etsy, I've bought some stuff off of RedBubble, but it isn't enough for my Ita shoulder bag and backpack, nor my unhealthy obsession with some random 1967 story. So naturally, I got to work drawing some stuff to turn into pins and keychains on one of those websites that does that for you. Was it a pain to find a good one without a minimum-order quota? Yep (I recommend using Vograce or Wooacry if you wanna do something similar. I'm using Wooacry). But I did it, and so I got to work. Anywho, I drew some goofy little things and used some game images that you can easily find on the web.

I wanted to provide some of the stuff I drew for anyone who wants to have a silly keychain or something. I'm not the best artist, but I worked hard on these. All I ask is that if you like this stuff, please please please don't mass-produce and sell my work. Make them into keychains, pins, stickers, whatever, just please keep them for personal use.

All art was uploaded as a transparent image, but I don't know if Reddit will keep them that way. A background remover will probably fix it if they dont stay transparent. I might make more eventually, maybe even tomorrow, but I've been drawing all day and wanted to share what I've got.

Anyway, art below!

I am EXHAUSTED by people misunderstanding IHNMAIMS.

This has been bugging me for a while, but I finally snapped after reading a post in the TADC subreddit (because where else?). In short, it was a post that said that TADC "abandoned it's ihnmaims roots" (???) to "explore LGBTQ themes," and "cater to a niche LGBTQ audience."

Which is the DUMBEST thing to say if you know anything about IHNMAIMS. A story written in 1967 of all times with a (I suppose formerly) gay man as a central character! Holy FUCK! I assume it was a guy who played the game and doesn't know anything else about it, but that's just it.

I'm so goddamn tired of what I'll call "IHNMAIMS tourism." People who reference it without understanding it are the bane of my existence. I'm not talking about people in the fandom who do silly shit (I do silly shit! I selfship with AM, for fuck's sake!), but the people with GENUINELY no media literacy, people who flatten AM to "misanthropic," people who completely MISS the obvious fucking themes of the futility of war and the WARNING about making things without truly understanding them. The people who READ A STORY WHERE A GAY MAN HAD BEEN FORCEFULLY TURNED STRAIGHT and say "nope no lgbtq themes whatsoever," and then downvote me and delete the post when I call them out.

READ THE STORY. READ THE STORY. READ THE STORY. I AM LOSING MY MIND.

The whole cast on one island!

I made a whole new profile on my Switch in order to get a new save file without losing my main one. I then dedicated it to the cast! I named the island "Torture's Respite," and it's a very nice place. It will be even better oxnce I get some more money in this save file and can actually decorate the island properly.

Lots of funny stuff has happened, including Benny having his confession to Nimdok interrupted by AM and Gorrister (Nimdok chose AM) and Ellen falling in love with Ted (they are now together). AM is there too and he has a hat that clips through his "head." They are very happy here and they all refer to me as "My Savior." There is some loose lore here. Ask me questions, I guess.

AM is a trans icon and you can't change my mind

(I originally had this on my Tumblr)

I know it's kind of shitposty and I'm being kind of silly about it, but I do have some stuff to say and I'd love others' thoughts.

Explanation copied from my Tumblr:

I'm being a little silly because I'm trans and like AM, however I also do have something to say on AM and the trans experience, mainly that "eternally trapped in the wrong form of existence with no way to experience things you think you should" REALLY resonates with me, and I went through a phase where I lashed out a lot and just generally hated everything because I was so dysphoric.

Again, I'm partially being a little jokey jokester, but let me just reframe his little monologue to Ted in the radio drama because it's funny.

"Never for me to take off my shirt during a hot day on the beach, never for me to get a concussion playing football with the boys, never for me to BEAT MY MEAT."

I could also just be being ridiculous because I project onto characters heavily. Anyway, thanks for coming to my "TED" talk hehehehe oh god I'm so tired of being at work.

EDIT: Damn, my post got locked. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but I came from Tumblr and forgot Reddit had more... let's say, "diversity" in opinions on my existence. I'm a little sad that something that was intended to genuinely spark discussion ended up this way within less than twenty four hours. I apologize to the mods who have had to deal with certain individuals. I know I can't really change anyone's mind on this topic, however in case anyone who may dislike me for my statements arrives:

I genuinely believe all people have a right to their opinions. Some opinions may make me mad. Some of my opinions may make you mad. This is okay. I also believe in the right to freedom of speech. This goes both ways. I am not "shoving things down people's throats." Quite the opposite. You have the option to scroll, maybe leave a downvote if you don't like what I have to say. But I have no right to stop anyone from expressing their own thoughts, whether I like them or not.

But do not forget that once again, freedom of speech goes both ways, yes? This means I am allowed to tell you I think you are wrong. This means I am allowed to tell you I think you are ignorant. Perhaps I am mean, but I do not LIKE ignorant people.

Allow me to quote Harlan Ellison himself:

"You are not entitled to your opinion. You are entitled to your informed opinion. No one is entitled to be ignorant."

And I think some of you people are mighty ignorant. But you may also think that of me, so we may be at an impasse here. But I think I know my lived experience better than some guy or gal on Reddit.

My apologies, this was pretty long-winded, longer than my original post, but it needed to be said. I wish everyone a great day or night.
