is there a cheaper way to see orcas? 🫍

hellooo! My dad and me are visiting Seattle at the enf of this month! We are looking for a way to see the orcas (it’s an ilusión of mine) we were looking for options (we saw a kayaking tour), it wasn’t the most expensive but if we could save more money we would be happy to spend it in other activities such as biking, rafting, or visiting museums!

Is there any way to make it cheaper? I mean tours or any other way? We want to rent a car :)!

Thank you very much!

PD: we are from mexico, and the best way to look for tour guides or similar things here is looking into Facebook groups, because usually the first thing that appears in the google search is the most expensive!

4 days to explore Washington after hiking PCT Section J – what shouldn't we miss?

Hi everyone!

My dad and I are flying into Seattle on July 22, and after that we're hiking PCT Section J (7 days) starting a few days later.

That leaves us with about 4 free days before the hike, and we'd love to explore Washington (or somewhere reasonably close to Seattle). We're thinking of renting a car during those days so we're not limited to the city.

I asked ChatGPT for ideas (please don't roast me 😂), and it suggested:

  • North Cascades National Park
  • Mount Rainier National Park
  • Leavenworth

Do you think those are good choices after hiking teh PCT? Or would you recommend something different?

If you only had 4 days in Washington after a backpacking trip, how would you spend them?

Thanks so much!

(we're mexican lol)

alternatives for garmin in reach

hellooo i’m
looking for cheaper alternatives for calling or reaching someone in case of emergency.

I’m hiking the PCT Section J in Washington with my dad, this is our first thru-hike so we are kind of inexperienced. We both have iPhone 17.
