What is "close enough" for zeroing a red dot?

These are my hits at 10 yards. Ignoring the far left bottom one that got away from me, but including the hits higher up near 8 and 9, would you bother to keep adjusting windage? The group as a whole can definitely be said to be 1 cm to the left. But that's only 2cm at 20 yards which is A) my zero goal and B) still less than an inch.

What do you say?

Iron sights can also need to be zeroed

Thought I'd post this bc I wouldn't have believed it if it didn't happen to me.

I've had the most difficult time zeroing a new RDS for my Echelon 4.5f. It started with a defective red dot which I was able to return and exchange. I likely wasted 150 rounds before I figured that out. Then, with the new red dot, I found zero to be far to the left of where the iron sights point. The red dot essentially sits off the left corner of the front sight.

That did not sit well with me.

I started a conversation with chatgpt to understand how the red dot can be so off when compared to the iron sights. Its first theory? The iron sights might be off.

So I checked and I found that indeed they were. The front iron sight on my gun is exactly 1mm closer to the right edge of the slide than the left. I was really surprised to find this.

My lesson? Trust the zero you establish on the range.

4.0c comped vs 4.5f non-comped for home defense?

I have a 4.5f Echelon with comped slide that I love. I use it all the time at the range and while training.

I also have a comped 4.0c, plus all the parts and magazines necessary to make a non-comped 4.5f around that same cog.

If my intention is to use this second firearm as my home defense gun near my bed stand, what's the best way to build up this second cog? I'm leaning towards making a non-comped 4.5f but curious if one could make an argument to leave it as a 4.0c.

*note, I use an M&P compact as my main edc, and that's not going to change.

I'm not talking about screws coming loose bc the device is still solid on the slide. I had the strange experience yesterday of suddenly needing to adjust my red dot 12 clicks "up" and 10 clicks to the right. Out of no where.

When I got home I decided to check where my dot was in relation to my iron sights and was surprised to find they were perfectly cowitnessed.. which is where they should have been before the range session

The only thing I can think of is that somehow the 2 adjustment dials got turned from the recoil force during some previous session.

Appreciate any insight.
