Freddie King 1971 at the Armadillo World Headquarters.

Ed Miller, I believe, took these pictures. Who is sitting at the piano?

Larry Hovis, Sgt. Carter, playing Ensign Pulver at the Alley Theatre in 1960.

Larry did lots of plays back then. Larry acted in quite a few kid's matinees on Saturdays. I was never a fan of his musicals because he and my sister, Joan, sang at the top of their lungs at the house. I had already heard their songs, over and over for weeks.

Larry Hovis, Sgt. Carter, and a few of his band mates. From the Four Spades to The Mascots. Capitol Records said said "no" to an album with four white guys with the Four Spades name. So they changed it. Larry had bar napkins made for him.

Jimmy Cliff at Antones in Austin, Texas

One of my other favorite posters. I think Jimmy played the first time in 2010. He also had a Austin City Limits show the same weekend. Jim Franklin is the artist.

Ivan Dixon, James Kinchloe on Hogan's Heroes, was on the show for the first five years.

Ivan Dixon left the show for several reasons including his belief that his character wasn't going anywhere. He directed several episodes and became a successful director. Ivan directed The Rockford Files, The Waltons, Bionic Woman, Magnum P.I., McCloud, The Twilight Zone, Outer Limits, The Fugitive and many more. I talked with him a little but Larry told me to just listen to him. Just about the smartest actor on the set, in my opinion.

Werner Klemperer, Col. Klink, fleed Germany with his family in 1933. His father was Jewish, Otto Klemperer, and was an orchesta conducter who became the Los Angeles Orchesta conductor.

In Klemperer's Hogan's Heroes contract he mandated that the Nazi's would always be the fools and absolutely no blood and guts episodes. Keep it funny and silly was his idea for the writers.

Larry Hovis as Hitler.

Larry, my brother, wore this home after this shoot to his house in Bel Aire. Larry forgot his wife Anne had ordered groceries for a late delivery at their house. Without thinking about it Larry answered the door dressed the same way, without the mustache, and when the delivery guy, a teenager, saw Larry he threw all of the grocery bags down an ran away. Anne apologized to the store owner over the phone several minutes later. The store owner was a fan and overtipped his teenage driver. Larry thought it was a lot funnier than the delivery kid.

Do you know why Glodie Hawn has drawings and words written her?

When they filmed Goldie Hawn's Go Go dance on Laugh In the censors said it was too revealing. The stage director and the makeup department drew all of these pictures on her, refilmed the same Go-GO dance with the artwork and the censor passed it.

My now passed ACD, Rango. Rango was terrified of rain.

Poor Rango was the most reactive dog I ever adopted. Rain, windy days and other dogs. I worked in mental health hospitals and treatment center for many years and had to take it slow with him. Rango had been returned four times before I adopted him. I used a nickname after a few months. I called him Bubba because it was softer.

Larry Hovis, Sgt. carter, and Robert Clary, Cpl. LeBeau during a scene on Hogan's Heroes.

Robert Clary was two of fourteen family members that survived Buchenwald. Robert danced and sang for the German troops and camp prisoners. An accordionist played while Robert performed. In his opinion it's probably why he survived. He was useful. The way he explained his part in a comedy about prisoners of war "Making fun those bastards and getting paid for it was a gift."

Written by Jimmy Van Heusen and Johnny Burke in 1947. Sung by Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Tony Bennet, Bob Dylan in 2017 and many more. My brother did a pretty good job. I made this video after he passed way. Lots of family pictures. He was also famous for playing Sgt. Carter on Hogan's Heroes and co wrote The comedy sketch show "Laugh In." Lorne Michaels helped him write many of the sketches.
