The Best Meal on CU

There were some shipping issues, so this wasn't a looker, but not exaggerating, this was the best thing I’ve received from CU. The beef was fork tender but not mushy; the mashed potatoes were divine. The sauce was seasoned so well but not salty. I have the Unity Pass, and this pot roast was better than any premium short rib or steak offered. If this is available in your area, I highly recommend it. Now I want to order everything Babish has to offer!

New Adobo BBQ Short Rib

I enjoy trying the new options as I get bored with the same things every week. This was not it for me. It wasn’t bad; it wasn’t great; it was just okay. I probably won’t order this again. Pros: This is a very large portion of protein, and the short rib was cooked nicely.

Yay! I got a soup-er deal!

Today I was doing my Sunday shop and came upon my favorite soup in the AOS marked for only a buck nineteen. One, I’ve never seen this soup there, and two, I never get the great red sticker deals I see in so many other posts. Finally, today was my day, and I took full advantage, clearing them out. Chances are, after eating all this soup, I may never want it again, but I got it for a buck! P.S. When I purchase this soup at other stores, it’s no less than $4 and sometimes higher than 5. So this is a true value.

CookUnity Swag

Was anyone able to pick any of these things up? It still appears to be sold out, but it was supposed to be available today unless I completely missed it.

Chimichurri Beef Tenderloin

First time having this one. The vegetables were prepared well and tasty, but the steak and chimichurri were just okay. I wish the steak were prepared rare to medium rare, so after heating, it could be medium. It was impossible not to warm this up to well done. It was still tender due to the cut, but it was just a bit flat in flavor.

Beef Tenderloin in Mole

This was a new premium option, and I could not resist. At first glance, I thought there was too much rice and not enough meat, but there was a lot of meat hidden under the rice, but there was still a ton of rice. I thought the sauce had great flavor, but not nearly enough; it was dry with so much rice. And a meal that you would think would have a lot of flavor was surprisingly bland. I fixed that with more salt and lime. In the end, it was tasty, and I would recommend it.

I was on bed rest and watched 12 seasons straight…

And I have thoughts. I’ve been a forever fan of the Law & Order franchise, and over the last 5 years or so, I've just been watching out of habit, not because it’s good, especially SVU. I’m not a person who can pick up a new show and start watching. I will watch the same series over and over again almost out of comfort, but I’m so glad I took the leap and started CPD. My immediate thought was, why is the quality of storytelling and writing so much better with this series than, say, the beloved SVU? Is it the quality of writers, producers, or even actors? I’m so invested in these characters that I can’t say that about the other shows, maybe not even the queen Olivia Benson. The development of this show is fantastic, and in my opinion, it is still going strong after all these years on the air. I’ve not completely caught up in real time, so I can’t comment on the current season. But now loving this show, do I start Fire and Med?

Blue Apron Sunday Meal Prep

I got behind last week and had two meals I didn’t cook, so I cooked them at the same time. Spiced-Rubbed Pork Roast and Sweet and Smoky Meatloaf are on the menu. There was a bit of veg prep I don't love, i.e., dicing onions, snipping beans but it all came together quickly, even when making two separate meals. I was dubious about cooking everything at 450 degrees for the full time per the instructions, but everything cooked beautifully. I’ve had a few bites of both for quality control, and they were very tasty. I feel that BA is hit or miss with flavors and recipes, but these two were good.

Has anyone tried either of these yet? They look great, but I'm not sure if I can commit to five portions if it’s mid. Let me know your thoughts!
