GPS App

I’m going on a 14 day canoe trip down a river and going through a process trying to shed some gear weight. Last year on a similar trip I only used my ‘big’ GPS once. Between paper maps, my phone and my Garmin Fenix watch I think I am covered. What apps do people use for navigation on canoe trips. I want one that allows me to import a GPX file.

Fort Simpson

Anybody who has paddled the world famous Nahani River has likely started the trip from Fort Simpson, NWT. I’ve been there a couple of times and it’s a lovely town. My heart goes out to the people who live there as they have been evacuated by forest fires. So sad to see the devastation caused by climate change

Swimming Pools

I will be coming to Newmarket several times to visit my grandkids and wanted to take them swimming. One is 11 and is a good swimmer and the other is 2 1/2 and needs to be looked after every second. In Stouffville, the main indoor pool is adjacent to a small pool for very young kids, so I can sit in it with the little one while the older one does his thing. Do any of the public pools in Newmarket have a similar setup?

Variety that is easy on the stomach

I have been having stomach issues lately. Can anyone recommend a Nespresso caffeinated coffee variety that is milder/easier on the stomach?

Madawaska River - Current temperature

In a week from now, we are doing a mini canoe trip/white water practice on the Lower Madawaska River. Does anyone know the current temperature? I assume that my dry suit is not necessary but that I will need to wear my wet suit (LOL even though I gained some weight during the winter and will look frightening in it)

Stairway to bed

A few months ago our 20 year old cat was no longer able to jump onto our bed. The result was that he would cry several times a night so that we could lift him up to be with us. I just bought this pet stairs. We’ve had it for about a week. If he cries to get on the bed, I put him on the bottom step. While he will climb up no problem, he still hasn’t made the connection to do this independently. Has anyone had luck with training their very old pets to do this?
