Would you choose heritage over practicality? (European Portuguese vs. Spanish)

My Vavó is from the Azores, so part of me feels like I should learn European Portuguese to stay connected to my family’s roots and hopefully pass it on to my future kids.
The problem is that every time I look into learning it, I run into the same issues: fewer apps, less media, fewer learning resources, and no European Portuguese course on Duolingo. Brazilian Portuguese seems to have a much bigger ecosystem, but I don’t really want to learn Brazilian Portuguese if my goal is my family’s heritage.
On the other hand, I’ve noticed that Spanish comes much more naturally to me. I find it easier to understand, there are endless resources, and it feels like I’d actually stick with it.
Has anyone else especially someone with Portuguese or Azorean family been in this situation? Did you choose European Portuguese for the heritage connection, or did you go with Spanish (or Brazilian Portuguese) because it was simply more practical? Do you regret your decision?

Do you find that the MacBook Air’s colours do not match up with modern phones?

I know the MacBook Air and iPad mini are considered color accurate, but I consistently noticed that my edits looked different on newer OLED phones like the iPhone 17 and 17 Pro, even with True Tone turned off on every device. The MacBook Pro matched those phones much more closely.

If most clients and viewers are seeing our work on modern OLED smartphones, should we be editing on displays that better resemble those screens, rather than traditional LCD panels? Has anyone else noticed this?

I had to switch to a MacBook Pro because my MacBook Air Edits didn’t match modern smartphones.

I know the MacBook Air is considered color accurate, but I noticed that blue/green tones on my M5 Air looked different from my iPhone 17 and 17 Pro, even with True Tone off. After switching to an M5 MacBook Pro, the colors matched my iPhones much more closely. This was also the case when viewing the photos on modern Samsung phones.

Anyone else experience this? Isn’t it better to edit on the type of screen (with colors) that’s most similar to what people will be viewing it on?

The blues leaned more green on the pro and modern smart phones. The colours were overall warmer.

Photo editing on MBA- question about lack of HDR

For photographers using the MacBook Air does the lack of HDR display bother you when editing?

Most people viewing your photos will be on HDR screens (modern iPhones, Samsung, etc.)so are you essentially editing blind to how the image will actually look on their devices?
