Fell for a scam. Now dealing with the headache of fixing it.

Started with a text from what I thought was Chase fraud. A purchase for $900. I responded to the text and a supposed fraud agent contacted me later through Google Voice and the hosing began. From April 9th up until last week, it was just a run around with my Chase account and even non Chase accounts. Long story short, I got rolled. Changed all my cards and did all the usual steps with the actual fraud people for each respective bank.

Sort of a vent post. Sort of a cautionary tale of how the fraud rings are getting ever creative. If my paycheck isn't in by Monday, that's even more issues that still remain. Been with Chase since 2009 and now looking at a local credit union or something simple.

Switching banks while a fraud investigation is underway with my current account?

The other post about my Chase account getting compromised went nowhere. There's a fraud specialist handling the case/complaint. But it's involving a lot of money being moved around in order to catch the fraud actors in the process.

Not entirely sure how bank fraud specialists and law enforcement operate, but it's definitely having an effect on my day to day spending. I drive semi trucks and get paid every week. Looking at just closing the Chase account ASAP and moving that money into a smaller credit union or something to that effect.

Manually just withdrawal cash for the week and cut any online spending cold turkey with the new account. I figure that's how my info could've been acquired and simple change of habits, giving up on certain hobbies could help out greatly in the long run.

If it's not sold in a brick and mortar store, I don't need it.

Got this 3D print Fallout NCR ranger helmet. Was going to do magnets originally and even put some on. But that's going badly and now I just want to turn it into a "full face motorcycle type helmet" where the front gas mask part swings up away from my face or conceals it. This will be more for costume themed bicycle group rides.

Was with Chase since 2009. Now despite assistance from their fraud department, I'm looking at a more local/regional credit union. I'm aware of all the usual steps to account safeguarding. But I'm alright with a recap. Also, looking at severely reducing online shopping and just doing Brick and Mortar stores.

The fraudulent purchases that triggered the alerts were for items and stores I hardly ever frequent. Figure if it isn't carried locally or not sold in stores, I don't need it. Money saving hack via deprivation I suppose.

Most of us try to keep 10mph on it due to how trash it gets. But the guys driving the feed and maneuver trucks like they're 4x4 Baja vehicles get it rerutted in no time. Learned not too long ago about how dirt roads get washboarded. High speeds and suspension.

And to think there's some drivers who deal with this all week and go find even more nastier roads to get their kidneys jumbled on.
