Control (2007)

A high watermark for musical biopics. I think It holds up as a piece of art on par with Joy Division’s own discography. Which is something that can’t be said for any of the new wave of musical biopics.

The lighting, the quiet lingering shots of nothing, the oppressive council grey tone and the hypnotic meandering of the narrative as it snakes and unfolds to the next big revelation. It’s all so well crafted.

obviously it wasn’t commercially viable. But Jesus Christ I wish we could get more films like this and less like Michael.

Are there any over slept on Gems on par with this?

In Poland they believe a daughter steals the Mother’s beauty

During pregnancy they believe if they have duller skin, breakouts, or your face shape changes, then It’s a girl. 👧

If you have healthy glowing skin and thick shiny hair, it’s a boy. 👦

Hangovers have gotten worse

Not in the way that I’m getting older (i am) I believe that hangovers themselves have gotten worse in general.

If you had a Time Machine and were to take a 1983 teenager to now, and get him drunk… I do believe he would struggle. A 1983 hangover vs a 2026 hangover is not the same animal.

I don’t know why that is. I’ll leave that to the eggheads to figure out. In the mean time I will sit and ponder on the idea some more and wait for the universe to show me small signs I’m right.

You get your own nap pod now, and a window right next to your pillow. Can’t tell you how beautiful it is to look out in that punch drunk half dream daze at the lights of small lodge towns and mountain silhouettes. The photos hardly do it justice. There is a slight fear that grips you as the train rounds the bend, leaning out toward the drop. Moments like these are what living’s all about. I hope you get to try it someday too.
