Perinatal psychiatrist in Melbourne (Australia) pro-medication during pregnancy

Please refrain from negative comments, I have done research and know a LOT of psychs, midwives and OB's are okay with medication during pregnancy for ADHD. Plenty of new research is out to support this.

I have T1D and ADHD has impacted my control negatively since i was diagnosed at 2yo. I am for the first time in my life (5 months after starting meds) feeling like the blood sugar control i need during pregnancy for the baby's safety, is achievable and I'm on track to getting there. I have weighed up the risks vs benefits and the known risks of not-well controlled T1D/high glucose, in my opinion is far higher and far worse than the potential risks of vyvanse or dex. I am absolutely petrified of needing to have the best control of my life and having the one thing thats helped me get there be taken away.

My current psych has said flat out no during pregnancy and TTC. I want to see someone who actually specialises in the area rather than a general psychiatrist. I am hoping someone can suggest a perinatal psychiatrist in Melbourne? Happy for you to DM me if you don't want to comment them.

Thank you!

Going private for pregnancy and birth in melbourne.

I'm going to soon be TTC, doing all my planning. I am tossing up whether private is worth how much out of pocket you pay on top of the premium itself.

I have Type 1 Diabetes, and I like the idea of continuity with midwives/OB's. I don't want to be kicked out of the hospital less than 24 hours after birth (would they do that with T1D or being high risk would they keep me there longer?)

What were the out of pocket expenses you had? OB, scans, (being T1D, these will be a lot more frequent), epidural (i think i want one)? The hard thing is I don't know where to find this info, so I would love to hear what others in Melbourne have experienced.

Any experience with either going private, or birth with T1D would be great because I've got people telling me so many different things.

Any advice you would give your 10 year old?

My nephew is 10 tomorrow and the oldest of his siblings/cousins. He's really sweet and would love a letter. I'm adding in a list of some advice to remember as he gets older. I would love some advice that you have given your children or would give them if you were to go back to when they were that age, starting their pre-teen years.
I'm open to some fun ones to add in as well, but still somewhat practical or positive.

So far I have:

  1. It's okay to be bad at something before you're good at it
  2. We are all a little weird, and your real friends will like you the way you are, not just when you're cool.
  3. You don't have to like everyone, but you have to be decent to everyone.
  4. You don't need to be liked by everyone. You just need to like yourself and the right people will find you.
  5. However many times you fail something, make sure you try one more than that. Fail 3, try 4. Fail 10, try 11.
  6. Learn a party trick. You never know when you will need one.

Anyone had experience with Wisdom Wellbeing EAP? Or any EAPs in general?

I am looking into an EAP for my employee's. (Programs that offers counseling and psychology sessions to employees).
I am looking at Wisdom Wellbeing and wondering if anyone has had experience with them and their counselors?

Is the program worth it? Was it utilised by your staff?

Also open to any other EAP companies you might suggest.

Thanks!

Tslim x2 pump and Dexcom transmitter went through hotel xray machine, will they be okay?

We just got to Istanbul and we were paying the taxi and the hotel staff grabbed our bags and put them through their xray machine without us realising. I turned around and saw my suitcase with the loan pump from tandem and my spare Dexcom transmitter going through. I always take them out and have them manually searched at airports.

Will they be okay? I know both companies advise against xray machines. Should I advise tandem when I get home and return the loan pump?

How long do you trial a new vyvanse dose before deciding its too much?

I was on 30mg, then went up to 40mg and found it was much more calming and relaxing than the 30mg. It helped with the cognitive side more than the 30mg.
I started titrating in water and was taking 45mg and found it great. I was even able to have coffee with 45mg.
Because I needed to get my dr to write a new script and was doing okay on 45mg, he gave me 50mg script.

It hasn't been bad and its definitely helped with work and my physical motivation to do stuff. It's probably been a week and some days I've felt a little buzzed or slightly disconnected. I've been clenching my jaw like crazy on some days. Today I actually felt jittery for the first time on vyvanse.
I had protein yoghurt for breakky, had a good nights sleep and am hydrated. (also no caffeine)

Do you think I should tough it out and it will get better?

I’ve had a HUGE breakout all over my upper back when my backs been mostly clear for a few months. This seems to happen every time the weather starts to get colder 😢

I’m going on a Europe holiday in a few weeks and I’m so self conscious. Any tips to help clear it up?
