Discussions of DIY HRT

Discussions of DIY HRT

Hi everyone! The mod team has discussed it, and we’ve decided that discussions of DIY will not be allowed in this sub. There are severe health risks involved with doing HRT without a healthcare providers’ expertise, and sourcing testosterone on your own is often illegal.

We acknowledge that for some people, this is the only way they can access testosterone. Financial factors, discrimination in healthcare, unsafe living conditions, and lack of local access may contribute to difficulty accessing HRT through healthcare workers. Because of this, we’ve compiled a list of resources for DIY hormone replacement therapy.

Some in-person trans support groups may have mutual aid networks to help access HRT and other gender affirming care. Please look into any local groups you may have for mutual aid and support as well.

If you decide that this is the only option for you to access HRT, please do extensive research, learn about any health conditions/concerns you may have, and look into the range of very serious risks associated with DIY. Buy from reputable vendors/compounders with transparent and verifiable testing whenever possible.

take my hand. do not skip leg day.

When I was pre-t, puberty hit me with the hammer of what I called a "low center of gravity." Ultimately, I carried more of my weight in my hips/thighs and not as much in my belly or upper body. I worked out a lot to try and increase my upper body mass (unsuccessfully, due to not eating enough) but even after I got my shoulders to broaden a bit, it felt like my legs and thighs were still too feminine.

And then I started going on long fucking walks and my calves got MEATY.

That was what started to make me feel like my lower body wasn't this inherently feminine/clockable trait. Having muscular calves balanced out my thicker thighs and even though I was still curvier than I'd like, it made my overall frame look stockier/more square.

A lot of guys pre-t with the sitch of "more hip than I'd like" tend to focus on upper body workouts and neglect lower body, because of this idea that if you do, you'll get more accentuated curves. The thing is, you'll get those curves if you train for those curves. If you start going hiking on the reg and get crazy calves, your legs will have less taper towards your feet and if you have that pear/hourglass figure going on like i did, it can offset that. Not every lower body workout is geared towards getting a nice ass and curvy thighs.

Yaddah yaddah nuance, individual experience, and ymmv. But i see way too many guys doing what i did pre-t, and neglecting the entire lower half of their body because they think it'll enhance their curves, when lower body workouts can help offset them. It depends on what you're doing.

it takes time but it'll happen!

I know a lot of guys on here are on the younger side, and I wanted to share something to give a bit of perspective with testosterone.

It can seem at first like it's not making much of a difference, or that things are taking too long to change. But being on T is going through puberty. The right puberty this time, sure, but puberty nonetheless. It takes time for things to settle and develop, but they do. The first photo is me roughly two months on T. I was 18, and had been out at my highschool for two years, but didn't pass all that much to strangers. The second photo was after I'd been on T for almost 6 months. My voice had mostly dropped, and I passed most of the time, but most people didn't think I was a 19 year old.

At that point I was incredibly dysphoric and was convinced things would never change, and that I would never fully pass or be stealth.

That last photo is from a couple weeks ago. I'm 24 now, I've been on T for a combined 4 years because I lost insurance and lost access for a couple years. I pass. I'm stealth at my job. I look like an adult man. It took time, and a lot of patience, but the changes I wanted from T happened. It takes time! Puberty takes time! But the changes will happen. You just gotta be patient with it.

Worth it to try fixing this?

Family is finally hitting me with the "you know how to weld, can you fix this?"

The [this] in question is a cast iron weight on a cuckoo clock my grandparents bought in Germany back in the 60s when my grandfather was stationed there. My aunt wants me to "weld it back together" despite the fact that we don't have the piece of the loop that snapped off. Even if we did, I know I'd probably have to braze the thing and brazing isn't my strong suit. My dad says his solution is to "super glue a washer to it" which... would technically work.

The way I see it I've got three options:

1- buy a new weight (family will complain that it's not the original every time they look at the damn clock)

2- go with my dad's super glue and scrap metal route (ugly, might not work)

3- try to find a part that will work to replace the loop and pray i get really good at brazing out of nowhere (impossible odds on this one)

Realistically I'm likely gonna say we should get a replacement and end up doing that just so the clock functions and stops living in a box. But is there any feasible way to repair it? I know it'd mean a lot to my aunt to have it be the original pieces, but I feel like the doability versus payoff isn't really there. This is basically a last ditch effort to get any other ideas before I go ahead and just replace it.

wtf do i do w this beard dawg

Started growing out my facial hair fr back in April after i shaved my stubble off and had a dysphoria-fueled breakdown in the shower about being clean-shaven. I like having facial hair. I like having a beard. I'm also self aware enough to know it's patchy and my moustache isnt as there as i want it to be.

Any tips for shaping this thing, filling it out, shaving, etc? Right now my "routine" for when i clean it up is to hit it with clippers with a 3/8" guard around the chin/stache area and a 1/4" on the cheeks/under my jaw, then shave it clean on my neck following my jawline (though leaving more under my chin).

Ultimately, i got no clue what I'm doing w this thing lmfao. Fully winging it. Photos are from most recent to least recent, last couple are from when i was staying BALD. Ultimately I like having the beard because not only do I feel like I look more my age (24) I feel a lot more comfortable with my face (which is pretty round). I like the beard, patchy as it is. I'm gonna keep it. I just dont know wtf im doing with it lol

So, I was gifted a Casio ct-648 by a friend who was cleaning out their house, and I'm completely new to this.

I want to be able to record stuff from it onto my laptop, and from what I'm seeing, I need to have a MIDI connection to actually get the thing recording. Which... It does not appear to have. I found a digitized copy of the ct-647 manual which appears pretty much the same but has no indication that it can be hooked up to a computer system.

Is it even possible to record audio from this thing? Do i need to hook it up to something else? I'm having fun messing around and playing stuff but I'd love to be able to actually record off it.

As I've said I'm completely new to this. I'm trying to learn what I need to do but it's honestly pretty overwhelming. Idek if I'm using the right jargon lol. Where do I even start?
