Are there a disproportionately large amount of classic VWs in the Reno area? I have a 1974 so I'm always looking out for them, and I don't live in the rust belt at all, yet I see maybe 1-2 aircooled VWs a YEAR on the east coast, but in the past week staying in Reno I've seen at least 20 on the road.
I understand cars here last longer due to no salt on the roads, but is there a special bug enthusiast group here I'm not familiar with?

Accidentally punched a hole through my E36's oil pan and have been in the process of replacing. Bought a used pan on Ebay, and the new one seems to have these hairline cracks in it. I've never seen cracks like this before, is it concerning enough to scrap this one and get a different pan, or is this just the result of a mediocre cast and is safe? The orginal pan doesn't have these marks.
This is for a track car and I'd rather not have to replace the pan again since I have to drop the subframe and steering rack, and the last thing I want is to dump oil on track.
Found it in a gig bag for $80 at my local Goodwill. It was missing a few strings but there just so happened to be a pack of 42-9s in the zipper pocket. Spent about an hour setting it up, there’s hardly a scratch on it.
I have another Arbor semi-hollow body that I’m actually quite fond of. Did I do well on this one?
