Any ideas?

Originally I brought this thinking it was an oil can but now I’m honestly not sure.
No stamps or any imprints visible and I’m not sure what the fibre is inside the tube.
The tip is threaded at the very top so I think I’m missing a part.
Would love to hear your thoughts

Vintage barber hones.

How do you go about flattening and lapping vintage synthetic barber hones?

Previously I’ve used SiC powder on float glass with water but I found the lower grits dished the glass plate.

Would I be better using wet and dry paper until my pencil grid is removed and then switching to loose SiC powder on glass but only with the higher grits like 600,800,1200?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Lapping questions

What’s the best way to go about flattening natural oilstones like different washita stones, different types of arks, turkey stones, queer creek ect.

Previously I’ve used loose SiC powder on float glass but the lower grits dished the glass plate.

Any help would be greatly appreciated
