2024 Sonata Hybrid Limited - Ride is a little harsh?

I traded in my 2018 Honda Accord for a 2024 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Limited, and while I love almost everything else about the car, I’m struggling with the ride quality.

My Accord felt exceptionally smooth and isolated. In the Sonata, I constantly notice light vibrations through the seat and floorboards that I never felt in the Honda. I’ve tried different tires, had the suspension, drivetrain, engine mounts, and other components checked, and multiple shops/dealers have told me everything is normal.

Most reviews describe the Sonata as having a plush, comfortable ride, but I’ve also seen some reviewers call it firmer or more “taut,” saying more road texture and vibrations make it into the cabin. I’m wondering if that’s simply what I’m experiencing and I’m just not used to it after coming from the Accord.

At the same time, I can’t shake the feeling that something may still be wrong because there’s almost always a gentle vibration through the seat and floor. I’m never completed still even on nice roads. I noticed the driver’s seat has a little play when I shake it, but that doesn’t explain the floorboard vibrations.

Has anyone else moved from an Accord to a Sonata and noticed this? Is this just normal Sonata NVH, or should I keep pushing Hyundai to investigate further (possibly even replacing the driver’s seat under warranty)?

EDIT: To be clear, mine was purchased used at 29k miles. Not sure what possible parts could be worn at that mileage.

EDIT 2: Just to add more clarification.

The exact feeling is happening in the back part of the seat and underneath where my thigh hovers. There is a sensation of resonance and that makes my legs almost shake and tingle. This feeling is transferred to my heel when I have my foot on the pedal. In addition, the window armrest and steering wheel always has resonance too. The effect is that the driver seat is never still even on flat, clean roads.

Things I've tried:

  • New tires
  • Multiple Balancings
  • Allignment
  • 1st Dealership to check suspension
  • 2nd dealership to ask for engine mounts and driveshaft related
  • 3rd dealership visit to check (they just pointed to wheel balance and charged me $180 diag fee, will not be returning to this one)
  • Asked a local shop for a diagnostic fee which could not find anything wrong with the car.

My next plan is probably to ask a different dealership to warranty the seat? And perhaps look at wheel bearings or another possible issues. Everyone is telling me the car is too new to have the wheel bearings fail but I'm completely lost and frustrated at this point.

EDIT 3: If anyone in Houston has a Sonata Hybrid and would let me side-by-side compare the rides, let me know!!

Does this sound mean failing wheel bearing? (Hyundai Sonata Hybrid 2024, 32k miles)

So I bought this car used at 29k miles and decided to replaced the worn out Kumho stock tires. Ever since, I've been experiencing NVH in the seat, floorboards and the steering wheel. Only when the car is moving forward.

I also hear this noise going highway speeds 60-70 mph. I believe towards the passenger rear.

The tires I replaced them with are Michelin Defender 2s. Since then I've tried the following:

  • Rebalanced 3+ times at Discount Tire
  • Alignment
  • New Lug Nuts
  • Asked dealership to check engine mounts and suspension (however, they said they couldn't reproduce the vibration and said tire balance)

The car is still under basic warranty but I really don't want to waste time and money on dealer diagnostic fees and holding my car for 2-3 days.

I want to go to a local shop and see if they can check the wheel bearings. But what do you think?

I need some advice! I’ll be driving much more since I just moved to Texas and looking to trade in my 2018 Honda Accord Touring 1.5k. I’m able to get $18-19k trade in value for it.

Here are the options, both are Elantra Hybrid Limited CPOs:

- 2023 with 47k miles, $21,621.

- 2025 with 26k miles, $24,835. (They gave me a quote of $6.5k OTD)

I’m leaning towards the 2025 but i’m wondering if the 2023 is worth looking at. From what I understand, it won’t have the latest Digital Key functions.
