Suggestions for back recovery

Ok folks, could use some non medical professional advice. Last weekend I strained my right lumbar area taking ACs out of the windows. On Friday I thought it was good enough for a ruck....I was wrong.

The real bad part is Im doing the Norwegian Foot March on Oct 23rd. Im currently doing easy mobility stretches in the morning and evening, applying heat a couple times a day, and easy walks to help with circulation and movement.

What else should I, or shouldn't I do, to help recovery in time for the NFM?

Thanks

Is it possible to get prepaid bag fee refund?

Hi there. I'll start by saying I haven't tried calling AA yet because I'm on the plane but thought I'd get all your thoughts in the meantime

I prepaid for 5 bags but ended up getting 3 of them for free due to military. Is it possible to either get the fees refunded or a credit for my return flight? If so what's the best way to go about it? Call AA? A form online?

Thanks for the help

To Shuffle or Not To Shuffle

I've seen conflicting info when it comes to whether or not you should do the shuffle when rucking (e.g. Airborne Shuffle).

Some say never, some say go ahead

So I thought this sounds like a good topic for a poll and here we are.

Shore dives in Maui?

Niave question about 2 tank shore dives in Maui. Are both dives typically in the same spot or do guides move you to a different spot for the 2nd dive?

Using a different ruck for an event

Hey everyone. I'm currently training for the Norwegian Foot March. I use a GoRuck for training which I can't use for the event. I do not have an Army issued ruck sack and I'd prefer not to buy one for 1 event. I'll probably be able to borrow a ruck for the event, but I'm concerned about going with something I've never used for and it causing issues.

What would you do?

Army / Rucking Boots Recommendations

It's time to buy new Army boots and since it's been a while since I've been a ground pounder my last couple of boots have been more for comfort than rucking.

I've started training for the Norwegian Foot March so I'm looking for suggestions.

Thanks

Help with finding document listed as evidence

I'm helping dad with his Agent Orange claim from Vietnam. The denial letter lists as evidence "Negative Herbicide Exposure Verification Memorandum, dated February 26, 2026".

I'm not sure what this is. How can I find and download a copy of this memo?

Thanks.

Is it possible to track GPS strength?

I use my Garmin on activities like hiking where the GPS signal may be spotty. This can sometimes result in unreliable distances or pace. Is there way to see the GPS strength of the activity or overlay it with an activity?

Unable to update ruck weight in Garmin Connect using a browser

Since the Descent Mk3 doesn't have a ruck profile, I need to go into the app and update the ruck weight which works fine.

But I just noticed that I can't seem to find a way to edit that field when using a browser. Anyone know if its hidden somewhere that I'm missing?

Looking for guide recs in Kauai and Maui

Finally heading back to Hawaii after 25 years where I did my first familiarization dive in Maui!! Will be even more special this time as I'll be diving with my son.

We'll be there the last week of August and looking for recommendations for 1 day, 2 tank, guided dives in Kauai and Maui.

In Kauai we'll be staying on the South coast near Koloa

In Maui we'll be staying in the upper West coast near Lahaina.

We're both certified. We'll have rental cars but would like to stay fairly close but willing to drive for something extra special. My only "requirement" is visiting my sea turtle friends, it's been 25 years since we've seen each other 😄

Thanks

Lack of US merch in local stores?

I live in MA and I'm amazed at the lack of US merch available in local stores. I can't find a US jersey or scarf anywhere. I see plenty of Argentina and Brazil, but not US.

Yes there are some available on Amazon, but I would hope that local stores would sell them 😢

Thoughts on Pathfinder?

Pretty much the title

Any thoughts, good or bad, on Pathfinder?

Is it worth the money?.

Does it make more sense for newbies or good/bad for all levels?

Thanks

Help with understanding Navy record

Hey everyone. This Army guy needs help translating some old Navy records. Here's a screenshot of my dad's transfer record and I'm trying to figuring out when he actually reported to the USS John Weeks.

At the top it says 29 JUN 69 transferred to the Weeks. But then below it has a date reported of 16 Jul 1969. Then at the bottom is another date of 12 AUG 1970. Since that says 13 months I'm assuming this means he was on the Weeks from July 69 to Aug 70, but if so where was he from Jun 69 to Jul 69?

Always appreciate the help from this community

Reporting live from Gillette

Yes from GILLETTE not Boston Stadium.

At the Ghana v England game. With all the negativity around things like transportation and security I wasn't sure what to expect but so far things have been pretty smooth.

We drove in and parked in general parking. We arrived about 12:30 and traffic wasn't bad at all.

Lots of tailgating in the lots. Sorry England but Ghana outshines with their food and music

Patriot place was packed with supporters. Went through the first check point about 2:00 and it was busy but flowed really smoothly.

Headed to the Pro Shop expecting massive lines and while it was packed and the checkout line long we never stopped moving and took less than 10 minutes.

Now if only the rain would stop.

Game starts soon.

Scotland Watch Party?

Since all of Scotland came over for the games, and they all can't fit in "Boston" stadium, where will the best pro-Scotland watch party be on Friday?

Who reads ALL shards?

Does anyone read ALL the shards?

Yes I know some have info needed to progress or make a task easier. But I'm talking about the seemingly random ones like excerpts from a book or car manuals.

Is there a reason to try to collect and read them all?

Help me understand workout recommendations and how effort levels

I've had various Garmin products over the years but the recommended work outs and perceived effort features are new to me and I'm trying to get a better understanding of how they work.

First - how are the time, pace, and frequency of recommended running workouts determined? I'm guessing it has something to do with my activity level, past workouts, etc? But if I'm just starting out with a new device, how does it figure things out?

Second, and related, question has to do with perceived effort values. Are these used to determine the next workout? Since I'm just getting back into running it always feels like I'm going slow and easily gassed, so want to select feeling week and high level of exertion, but I'm guessing it really should be something else.

Thanks
