Is this a dropshipper scammer

Sorry this is a bit long. My mom purchased a horse head wall hook thing Aug 2 that said it was “cast iron” and showed a quite big size on the wall in the picture. My mom is not good at checking details or measurements so when she showed me I was already suspicious and checked where it was coming from: Hong Kong. I looked closely at the pictures and told her this is clearly not cast iron it has a seam right in the picture which is likely plastic. I told her it was more than likely going to be crap but we’ll wait and see.

Well it came yesterday Aug 17 and not only is it most definitely not cast iron as I knew it wouldn’t be as it weighs 3.6 oz and is light as a feather and clearly some type of plastic, tiny, and the hole to hang on the back was crooked, but they sent a rhino instead of a horse. $32 for this cheap junk btw.

When I contacted the seller for my mom she was at first apologetic and that she would send another one out the very next morning, and I ‘could keep this one, of course!’ I told her I do not want another one and just want a refund. I did not like the quality of it, so would send this back if she wanted me to. She replied that I would have to pay for the return shipping, that she unfortunately could not pay it because she would lose money. Over the next few messages instead of just doing what I wanted she kept repeating over and over that she would lose a “significant amount of money” doing it this way, clearly trying to guilt me into doing what she wanted and make me feel bad. She kept trying to get me to just have her send me the correct one. I kept rejecting her offer, which she clearly did not like because she then kept arguing back and forth with me, saying I was clearly not listening, wanting to be right, that I kept arguing with her, when that was clearly projection on her part because she would not drop it and just refund me for sending the wrong item.

She eventually did send a refund, but not without attitude saying something like ‘I don’t care about the money, I’ve refunded you. You clearly don’t want to listen and just want to be right. Goodbye’. Yeah you clearly don’t care at all about the money when you just sent me ten super long messages reiterating three times you’ll be losing too much money if you just have to pay for the return shipping lol. And then after she refunded me she came back half an hour later and started arguing some more! So she’s the one keeping it going but saying I’m the one that has to be right haha I mean I’m (well, my mom is) the customer, and I’m telling you I don’t want it!

We weren’t even mad or upset about the mistake of it being the wrong animal (and why would anyone want to keep a rhino when they ordered a horse?) people make mistakes (which she also kept repeating) blah blah whatever, it happens. I told her even if we did get the horse, we would have sent it back because the quality of it is crap (not in those words) which she also did not like that I said lol I told her that I am allowed to have an opinion on the quality.

I just found it odd that she was SO argumentative and combative and unprofessional over refunding us just $32 (which isn’t a lot but is a lot for a small piece of junky plastic falsely advertised as cast iron…she acted like was like $300) and just…paying for the return shipping. That’s all. She literally could’ve gotten the item back and re-sold it to someone who wants a rhino. But then I realized she probably threw such a fit because she’s a dropshipper and bought it from aliexpress or temu or something for 99¢, and therefore can’t have it sent back to her. The tracking, label, and packaging were all consistent with aliexpress/temu, not well made handmade items that Etsy is supposed to be.

Also, she changed the title and description to no longer say cast iron; it now says resin. There’s a seahorse listing that still says cast iron. I’m sure she’ll come back and try to gaslight me now saying that it never said cast iron in the first place lol

Found one of my white whales yesterday

Nothing too big but I’ve been wanting to find a 100% wool sweater from Ireland or Scotland or Norway etc and this was just hanging on one of the new racks they had brought out that day. I’m surprised no one grabbed it before I got there. Had a couple small surface stains nothing too bad- some woolite with cold water on delicate later and it’s looking and feeling beautiful now. I can’t wait to wear it this autumn & winter 🍂🍁🌨️🧦

Can’t even just get a coffee at a cute shop real quick

Okay I know a lot of people here and the lurkers hate this sub for all the rants but I do not care I have no where else and one else to complain to about this besides the people here and my parents.

There’s this new cute coffee shop near me ~20 minutes away that is horse themed and pink and I’ve been wanting to take my mom there for months now; she had horses growing up (and loves pink) so it was right up her alley, but was never able to because they have very inconsistent hours and have been closed twice now when going there when they were supposed to be open. We go yesterday to see if they’re finally open because we’re in the area anyway and lo and behold they finally are.

So I walk ahead and open the door….and a small toddler immediately comes running up to us. I internally sigh and kind of keep walking because I didn’t come here to play with kids but she keeps going and goes to my mom behind me and she hugs her and then she runs to me and hugs me. Okay fine I’m not a monster so I bend down and hug her anddd then she puts her arms up. Now she wants to be picked up. At this point I’m getting a little annoyed because there is still no parent or guardian coming to collect her and just letting her run up to strangers at the door but I pick her up (begrudgingly) and keep walking to the front. There’s hardly anyone in there except one lady at the bar type sitting area, the owner at the front, a customer ordering four different drinks while they’re just talking away and ignoring us, and finally an old lady to the right sitting on a couch playing on her phone. I’m kind of struggling holding her (I’m not strong lol) and was kind of saying to myself “okay whose is this” while the old lady finally slowly makes her way over to us.

My mom asks if she was hers (obvs not the mother but grandmother) and she says yes. I keep trying to hand her to her but the girl really just wanted me for some reason, the grandma kind of mumbled something like she doesn’t want to come to her in a defeated voice. So we’re standing there & standing there & standing there while the customer and owner are still yapping, we’re still not being acknowledged whatsoever while I’m babysitting this random person’s child. The little girl starts coughing in a way that sounded like she was going to spit up or vomit so I put her down so fast, but after that she wants up again. This point I’m getting real irritated because I just want to order as we’ve been wanting to come here forever and we have other places to get to, and I’m still holding a coughing child while being ignored while the grandma is no help and just watches from afar. My mom tries taking her but she doesn’t want to go to her.

Eventually after just standing there for probably something like ten minutes the young owner lady finally starts acknowledging us and apologizing while finally starting to make the woman in front of us’ four coffees after yapping forever. The kid starts coughing again pretty much right in my face so I put her down again. The owner lady and grandma start talking about how this cough she caught from daycare weeks ago just won’t go away. So great now I’m going to get sick especially because I was pretty much forced to hold her against me and in my face for about 15 minutes now because the grandma is useless and doesn’t say anything at all about her being sick until that point. If I knew my mom wouldn’t scold me for it (she’s very much the type to care about looking good and being nice to others while disregarding how I feel even if she agrees with me and will talk shit about them later) I would’ve made a comment along the lines of gee thanks for getting me and I’m sure others sick now, but my mom would just chastise me for being rude and stick up for them to look good even though I know she was annoyed too, so I had to bite my tongue. But was very irritated and not speaking much while the other women are gushing over this kid while I’m the one being coughed on.

Eventually the girl kind of leaves me alone for a while while we order finally. We start making small talk with the owner and she’s saying sorry I needed to bring my kids here I don’t have other employees and I don’t have any kind of babysitter (while the grandma is sitting right over there?) I don’t really understand why a sick kid is in a coffee shop running up to people when she should be somewhere else if she’s sick. The mom even said one time earlier that day she ran out the door when someone opened it! So basically the grandmother was useless, and before anyone asks no she was not crippled or couldn’t walk or anything like that. She wasn’t even that old, she just clearly didn’t want to watch this little girl and let everyone else that walked in do it for her, which, because of the pink and the horses, would be of course mostly women clientele walking in. And I’m not saying just because they’re the grandparent they should just babysit every day for them but if the girl is sick she shouldn’t be there and should take her home.

Thankfully the girl was sleeping on the couch when we finally could leave (definitely weren’t gonna sit stay and enjoy it for a little bit now like I wanted to). Can’t even just enjoy getting a coffee somewhere new there’s always gotta be someone or something to ruin it. Being a woman you’re just expected to watch kids and go goo goo gaa gaa over them. Cute place, and I wish the owner the best as it’s not her fault and she’s trying, but I’m not sure I’ll ever be going back because I’m just gonna be worried every time I walk in there will be a child running up to me that I’ll have to watch for free. Anyway, payed almost $16 for two coffees and to babysit, also hope I don’t wake up sick in a few days 👍🏼

Why do parents/grandparents glare and act irritated because I’m driving in the street?

It’s a road. It’s meant for vehicles. Not kids. And it’s not even like I’m speeding. I slow way down and get way over. And they glare at me and look pissed because I dared to drive by their precious kids. Why do you even want your kids to play in the street anyway? So that when they get hit when they inevitably run out right in front of one you can blame the driver?
